In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, glitches can be used to let Flavio follow Mario for the entirety of the game. Scenes not originally intended to have Flavio then exhibit "Flavio omnipresence" whereby instead of physically entering the scene, he is already always there.

In Super Mario 64, it is possible to sleep inside Bowser. Mario's post-damage blinking invincibility continues indefinitely while he is inside an enemy, and Bowser turns around in the same spot forever as long as Mario is inside his hitbox. After a while, Mario will fall asleep.

In Donkey Kong Country 2, a Klobber enemy that is dropped into lava does not actually die. Instead, it is teleported so far up that it takes 3 minutes for it to fall down. If the player waits in that spot for 3 minutes, the Klobber will fall down from the sky.

In Level 3-1 of Super Mario Bros. 2, there is a shortcut beyond a gap that Luigi and Peach can clear easily, but Mario and Toad can't. However, even they can access it: the decorative clouds have secret functionality where they can support Mushroom Blocks to bridge the gap.
