By unloading the spring model from Spring Mario in Super Mario Galaxy, we can see how his body deforms under the spring. Note that his hands are removed from his model while wearing the spring, as they take up too much space and would interfere with the animations.

Textures used for the Thwomps' facial expressions in Mario Kart 64. Note that the caged, seemingly green Thwomp in the Bowser's Castle course actually uses the same blue textures as the other Thwomps, and is merely lit with stark yellow lighting to appear green.

Unused early Bomp models from Super Mario Galaxy. In the data, these have a different name from Bomps - their name is "ツキダシくん", which translates to "Bomp-kun"; "kun" being a Japanese honorific used to address young males.

Hidden message found in the code of Super Mario Land 2. Note that no version of the game released around Christmas. Also, the game is one of the few Mario titles where Mario does not save any character, meaning there is no one who could plausibly say "Thank you Mario!" to him.

The Power Bee is an insect-like creature that can be eaten to restore Yoshi's health in Yoshi's Story (left). However, the enemy information section in a Yoshi's Story manga depicts the Power Bee as a more fairy-like character (right). This was possibly a scrapped earlier design.

Level 5-Airship in New Super Luigi U features a wooden Luigi figurehead on the first ship. Removing that texture reveals that hidden beneath it is another, very slightly darker wooden Luigi figurehead.

Super Mario 64 DS contains a debug map select screen that can be used to access any area in the game, including two test maps. Loading up the first test map reveals that its name is "Course 0: le searching for Power".

In Mario Party 8, every playable character can turn into Bowser by using a Bowser Candy item. For Boo, an unused version of his Bowser form exists in the game's files. The one used in the game is on the left, the unused one on the right.

The ending for the Japanese version of Super Mario World lists enemy names in Japanese, transliterated into the Latin alphabet. Some of them are English names and words; Fishin' Boo is "Spook", Mega Mole is "Indy", and Bullet Bill and Banzai Bill are "Killer" and "Magnum Killer".

Whenever a Burrbo is defeated in Super Mario Odyssey, it flips into the air in a death animation lasting only a few frames. During the entirety of the death animation, the Burrbo displays an annoyed facial expression, instead of a pained or surprised one like other enemies.

Unlicensed figurines of Mario and Luigi in soccer uniforms. Notable is the fact that the Mario figurines use a Luigi head model, and the Luigi figurines a Mario head model. (This could also be interpreted as Mario wearing Luigi's cap and vice versa.)

Knucklotec, the boss of the Sand Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey, wears an elaborate crown made of ice (left). In Snapshot Mode, the Coin filter ignores certain objects, like water, fire and ice. With this filter, we can see what Knucklotec looks like without his crown (right).
