This is the key difference between technology and art, and it’s frustrating to see them conflated with each other because ideally, technology is there to aid or elevate art, and that requires thought and intention and humanity.

Everyone who worked on that title put their all into it, and I know we’re all equally sad to say goodbye. I can tell from the ending date—not only does it end on Sakuya’s birthday, Sakuya’s birthday is 3/9, which can be read as both “saku” and “sankyuu”…thank you.

(And yes, I was the one responsible for “if you catch a cold you’re gonna catch these hands” among others, and that line is STILL one of my favorite translation accomplishments to this day)

And I think that’s where a lot of the frustration is coming from. Because a key part of art comes from those questions of “why”, and those answers of “because”, and an active choice to create something for a reason, not just to see how far it goes.

Y’all don’t know how many English speakers within Japanese game companies have fought battles so some of the characters you love to this day don’t have incredibly stupid sounding names

Part 6 was a kind of conclusion and a stopping point (for the series), but it isn’t the end. Just like the movie in May, we plan on handling each new project for i7 with the utmost care, and invite you to join the staff, Tsushimi-sensei, Tanemura-sensei, and Fukagawa-sensei (1/2)

Every time a game kicks the dust I become more and more against the concept of games being subsequently released on different servers. Can we please just make it a standard that games have different language options upon release?

“The idols’ journey will continue on. But since we’ve reached a milestone in their story, I thought I’d give my acknowledgments (to everyone involved thus far). Thank you, and I look forward to your continued support!” You heard sensei! It ain’t over yet! twitter.com/Bunta_HARD/sta…

I live in Tokyo. I have become well versed in the ancient art called 厳正なる抽選の結果残念ながらチケットをご用意することができませんでした It means that luck is gifted to only a select few. To everyone else, there’s always the livestream. twitter.com/jamierusso/sta…

White: A Love Like A Miracle Snow: A Love* Like A Dream Figaro: An Eternity Longed For (Snow’s love is “koi”, while White’s is “ai”. Koi can be read as a more fleeting sense of love, while ai is deep and eternal. This is mean)

I observed an interesting thing some days ago. A TV station in California asked, in a bit shaky Japanese, if they could use the photos from a JP user. I thought I got why JP users were poking fun at it, but it turns out it was for a different reason than I assumed:

A long, long time ago I drew a comic about a silly experience I had while studying in Kyoto in college.

Not enough people know about Zekkyou Gakkyuu (both the original and the sequel series) It’s a shoujo horror manga published in Ribon that is mainly standalone oneshots. It really nails both horror and entertainment (particularly the shoujo elements) in a clever way

negging only works when he's a 2d otome man...right?

We talk a lot about how the anime industry is pretty relentless to work in (and we should keep at it), but I don’t think there’s enough focus on how insane manga is as well. The further I get into things, the more things I see that are pretty hard to swallow.

Yasuke but make him a historical otome game suitor

How are y’all literally going to believe that the SxF mangaka hates his characters when Anya is literally a repurposed character from one of his previous manga? Here’s the thing: not all comic artists create completely from pure passion. Some create because they’re good at it.

Art imitates life and thus always requires observation and interest from the creator. If the men who created those models bothered figuring out *why* and for *what reason* (aside from “this looks gross and creepy”) they made that model, maybe a real conversation could’ve been had

The reason why the A I art discourse is so exhausting is because it’s actually the evolved version of the thing artists have been saying for years: Stop using and reposting art without permission. THAT is where the problem is. Not the tool itself.

Itaru was always a fun character because he always required you to reach deep inside and pull out the most Online version of yourself ever to handle his extremely Online Japanese
