The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.
My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.

Congratulations @RishiSunak on being appointed as Leader of the Conservative Party and our next Prime Minister.
You have my full support.

I am shocked to hear of the horrific events in Thailand this morning. My thoughts are with all those affected and the first responders. The UK stands with the Thai people at this terrible time. twitter.com/BBCBreaking/st…

Reports that Russian forces may have used chemical agents in an attack on the people of Mariupol. We are working urgently with partners to verify details.
Any use of such weapons would be a callous escalation in this conflict and we will hold Putin and his regime to account.
8
Tomorrow we will be announcing new sanctions on Russia in response to their breach of international law and attack on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Given strong evidence of war crimes, including reports of mass graves and heinous butchery in Bucha, Russia cannot remain a member of the UN Human Rights Council.
Russia must be suspended.
11
Congratulations to @GiorgiaMeloni on her party's success in the Italian elections.
From supporting Ukraine to addressing global economic challenges, the UK and Italy are close allies. 🇬🇧🇮🇹

Appalled by atrocities in Bucha and other towns in Ukraine. Reports of Russian forces targeting innocent civilians are abhorrent.
The UK is working with others to collect evidence and support @IntlCrimCourt war crimes investigation. Those responsible will be held to account.

I spoke to President @ZelenskyyUa earlier to underline steadfast 🇬🇧 support in light of Russia’s sham referendums, which we will never recognise.
I thanked him for helping secure the release of 5 British nationals & discussed ways to protect 🇺🇦 gas supplies.
Putin must fail.
15
Russia’s aggression cannot be appeased. It must be met with strength.
17
This evening I spoke with @POTUS about working together as leaders of free democracies to tackle shared challenges – particularly the economic problems caused by Putin’s war.
We will build on UK-US links, furthering our defence alliance through NATO and AUKUS. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

I have written for the Sunday @Telegraph about what happened during my time in Downing Street and the lessons I have learned… 👇🏻

I utterly condemn the sentencing of Aiden Aslin and Shaun Pinner held by Russian proxies in eastern Ukraine.
They are prisoners of war. This is a sham judgment with absolutely no legitimacy.
My thoughts are with the families. We continue to do everything we can to support them.
21
We are facing difficult economic times globally.
We must put this country on a trajectory for long-term growth whilst maintaining fiscal discipline.
Cutting taxes will boost investment, creating jobs and opportunities for all.
That is what our Growth Plan will deliver.

I spoke to President @ZelenskyyUa this evening and reiterated our steadfast support for Ukraine’s freedom and democracy.
Russia's attempts to weaponise energy must not deter the West.
Ukraine can depend on the UK for support in the long term. 🇬🇧🇺🇦 twitter.com/ZelenskyyUa/st…

Our manifesto is absolutely clear that:
👉In any trade negotiations, the NHS will NOT be on the table.
👉The price the NHS pays for drugs will NOT be on the table.
👉The services the NHS provides will NOT be on the table.

BREAKING: I've agreed with the US to remove retaliatory tariffs on a range of UK goods:
✔The removal of Scotch whisky tariffs of 25%
✔Removal of tariffs on cashmere, machinery and other products
✔A joint de-escalation of the Boeing-Airbus dispute

Great that 🇬🇧 has now secured trade deals covering 61 countries plus the EU - total trade of £867bn.
More to come.....#GlobalBritain
