Congratulations @RishiSunak on being appointed as Leader of the Conservative Party and our next Prime Minister. You have my full support.
2
The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.

I am honoured to be elected Leader of the Conservative Party. Thank you for putting your trust in me to lead and deliver for our great country. I will take bold action to get all of us through these tough times, grow our economy, and unleash the United Kingdom’s potential.

On behalf of a grieving nation I offer my deepest condolences on the passing of Her Majesty.   She was the rock on which modern Britain was built.   The thoughts of this government and this nation are with His Majesty The King and his family.

Vladimir Putin is once again violating international law with his threats to annex more of Ukraine. We will not hesitate to take further action, including imposing more sanctions to cripple Putin’s war machine. We will ensure he loses this illegal war.
7
It's time to deliver for the people of the United Kingdom 🇬🇧
8
Congratulations to @GiorgiaMeloni on her party's success in the Italian elections. From supporting Ukraine to addressing global economic challenges, the UK and Italy are close allies. 🇬🇧🇮🇹
9
As your Prime Minister, I am confident that together we can ride out the storm, rebuild our economy and become the modern, brilliant Britain that I know we can be. I will take action every day to make that happen 🇬🇧

I spoke to President @ZelenskyyUa earlier to underline steadfast 🇬🇧 support in light of Russia’s sham referendums, which we will never recognise. I thanked him for helping secure the release of 5 British nationals & discussed ways to protect 🇺🇦 gas supplies. Putin must fail.
11
This evening I spoke with @POTUS about working together as leaders of free democracies to tackle shared challenges – particularly the economic problems caused by Putin’s war. We will build on UK-US links, furthering our defence alliance through NATO and AUKUS. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
12
Tomorrow we will be announcing new sanctions on Russia in response to their breach of international law and attack on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
13
We delivered on energy bills and on cutting national insurance. We have continued to stand with Ukraine and to protect our own security. And we set out a vision for a low tax, high growth economy – that would take advantage of the freedoms of Brexit.
14
Given strong evidence of war crimes, including reports of mass graves and heinous butchery in Bucha, Russia cannot remain a member of the UN Human Rights Council. Russia must be suspended.
15
I spoke to President @ZelenskyyUa this evening and reiterated our steadfast support for Ukraine’s freedom and democracy. Russia's attempts to weaponise energy must not deter the West. Ukraine can depend on the UK for support in the long term. 🇬🇧🇺🇦 twitter.com/ZelenskyyUa/st…

We are facing difficult economic times globally. We must put this country on a trajectory for long-term growth whilst maintaining fiscal discipline. Cutting taxes will boost investment, creating jobs and opportunities for all. That is what our Growth Plan will deliver.
17
Reports that Russian forces may have used chemical agents in an attack on the people of Mariupol. We are working urgently with partners to verify details. Any use of such weapons would be a callous escalation in this conflict and we will hold Putin and his regime to account.
18
Hugely welcome news that five British nationals held by Russian-backed proxies in eastern Ukraine are being safely returned, ending months of uncertainty and suffering for them and their families.
19
Russia’s aggression cannot be appeased. It must be met with strength.
20
My focus at the @UN General Assembly is to continue working with our international partners to fix the global energy crisis, support Ukraine and defend freedom and democracy around the world. #UNGA
21
A privilege to hear President @ZelenskyyUa address MPs and peers today. His courage in the face of Putin’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine is an inspiration as we remain steadfast in our support for the Ukrainian people. As he said: “Freedom will win.” #WeStandWithUkraine 🇬🇧 🇺🇦
22
Today 143 countries stand united in condemnation of Putin’s illegal attempts to annex four regions of Ukraine. United against Russia’s hostile actions, the @UN General Assembly vote is a clear sign that Putin is isolated on the international stage. We stand with Ukraine 🇬🇧🇺🇦
23
I will deal hands-on with the energy crisis. Today I will take action to make sure people are not facing unaffordable energy bills and to secure our future energy supply.
24
I have a clear plan to build a Britain where everyone everywhere can realise their potential. We will usher in a decade of dynamism by focusing relentlessly on economic growth. My oped in the @MailOnline 👇 dailymail.co.uk/debate/article…

President @EmmanuelMacron and I are committed to working together to end reliance on Russian energy, deepening 🇬🇧🇫🇷 cooperation to reduce volatility in the market and cut costs for households. Putin’s economic blackmail cannot and will not succeed.
