I think it’s sad that there will be a whole generation of JoJo fans whose first introduction to a stand wasn’t a YouTube fan Leitmotif synced to the song that the stand was named after 😔

Herodotus is absolutely wild. One moment, he'll be talking about the complex intricacies of Egyptian religion and the next he'll just go...

I love the fact that Renaissance executioners literally sent their kings and lords bills for the executions and mutilations they did "Look, I ain't putting out a guy's eyes or cutting off fingers for free. That'll be 1/2 a florin per mutilation. Thank you very much."

Fun fact, one of the largest battles to occur in North America before the colonial era (on record) was probably the Battle of Tlaximaloyan which took place between the Aztecs & Matlatzinca in ~1476 CE. There were 24,000 Aztecs against 40,000 Matlatzinca.

Not enough people talk about how beautiful Aztec artwork must have been. Spanish Conquistador, Bernal Diaz, was so impressed with some Aztec painters and sculptors that he literally listed them on par with Michelangelo and Apelles!

Back in 2020, I drew a few queer historical figures to celebrate Pride Month. I wanted to do something similar for this year. Today, I drew Hypsicratea/Hypsicrates, the last wife of King Mithridates the Great & possibly (at least in my opinion) an early transgender figure.🏳️‍⚧️

I love these painted frescos from Pompeii because they illustrate just how colorful and vibrant Roman buildings and architecture would have been. I think too much stuff in pop culture makes the ancient world seem colorless and bland
