I’m delighted to see record numbers of nurses and midwives now working in our NHS as we work towards delivering 50,000 more nurses in this parliament. Nurses have saved countless lives during the pandemic and we are so grateful for all that they do for us, and for our NHS.

Today I visited two schools in Upminster to see the steps they’ve taken to safely welcome back pupils in September. It’s vital that we get children back to school, restore some normality to their lives and ensure they don’t miss out on their education because of coronavirus.

I met Ruth Briggs at Ruislip Synagogue in my constituency. She fled Nazi Germany as a child. Her story, and stories like hers, are a reminder to never forget those atrocities and honour the memory of those lost to the Holocaust. #HolocaustMemorialDay
