2/ This is the first time that Joshua is playing this game. On a normal day, he's an avid #Pokemon and #SuperSmashBros fan. "Frankly speaking, without coronavirus, I don't believe HKers would go through such a tremendous effort in decorating their islands to be a protest site."
2127
Again, @icao proved how Beijing continue to put pressure and bully international organizations by its authoritarian value and sharp power. Aviation security should not be hijacked by those Beijing loyalists.
2128
He fears that participating in a protest could land him in front of Communist Party-approved judges in the mainland, instead of HK judge is known for. “They might target me, I might be prosecuted but not in HK, in China. Never say never under the hard-line crackdown of Beijing.”
2129
Peoples overlooked by an international system built around the idea of nation-states must work even harder than otherwise to "prove" their "worthiness" for rights and representation, like minority groups in diverse societies. TW has far exceeded that bar and is still neglected.

6/ sends an alarming signal to the world - what kind of values Disney advocates for, especially when the company's target market is the children worldwide. Besides, the film also expresses thanks to three CCP's propaganda departments in Xinjiang, from the...

8/ While Saudi Arabian military used Swiss-made APCs to crack down on Bahrain protests......With Beijing tightening its grip on HK amidst the Covid-19 crisis, who can guarantee that we won’t be seeing Swiss assault rifles next, found in the hands of HKPolice hunting down HKers?

6. Under new draconian law, activists will be thrown into an extremely dangerous situation. The same law has been used for crushing #China's activists like rights lawyers #WangQuanzhang. Extracting confessions through torture, black jail & secret trial will be ubiquitous in #HK.

@apocalypse19 Very powerful video with powerful bondage among people in #Thailand as well. Wish all freedom-loving people around the world can stand with you guys in your fight for #Thailanddemocracy

1.2/ More importantly, praising the superiority of China over the western liberal democracies. This narrative is tightly connected to President Xi Jinping's personality cult, as his authority has been deeply challenged since the outbreak.
2135
2. Under #Beijing’s grip, when blank placards are regarded as subversive, w/ liberal books pulled from libraries and #TiananmenSquareMassacre censored, no #HKers can tell whether they'll be safe in the next minute. All we can do is fighting for the best & preparing for the worst

8/ It casts more doubts on whether Mulan is the propaganda masterpiece that Disney works hand in hand with the CCP government to whitewash the cultural genocide and human violations on ethnic minorities in the region.
2139
9/ In fact, Mulan was filmed in 2018, the same year that China staged the hardest suppression on Uyghurs in the region. The film was also shot in locations where all these re-education camps have been documented.
2140
2/ With its swelling economic clout, China pressures the business world to take its side; attacks critics of its human-rights abuses, such as ‘re-education camps’ for Uyghurs; and jeopardises universities’ autonomy through the Confucius Institute programme.

2/ Appearing via Skype shown at a press conference organised by @demosisto's Joshua Wong, the young men recounted how they were violently abused by guards who hit them with their elbows, and with wooden rods, metal rulers and batons.

3. Similar #China-style snooping model may expand overseas, esp when #Chinese #military contractor #Zhenhua Data was found snooping 2.4M+ of politicians, businessmen, academics, celebrities & individuals. Clearly Zhenhua is just the tip of the iceberg. theguardian.com/world/2020/sep…

4/ They said on one occasion, protesters were caught singing the movement's anthem "Glory to HK". Guards took them out of sight of CCTV & slapped them in the face, they said, adding that when the guards became tired, they were ordered to repeatedly slap themselves instead.
2144
2/ It is because I have been prosecuted for organising, knowingly participating in and inciting others to participate in unauthorised assembly, the trial with @chowtingagnes and @ivanlamviiv will end on 23 Nov and I may be probably remanded in custody by the magistrate.
2145
3/ The law has sent a wave of fear through the city, and criminalised certain opinions such as calls for independence or autonomy. At his court appearance on Tuesday, Wong, 23, remained unbowed. “We still have to let the world know that now is the time to stand with Hong Kong,”

Mr. China Jerome A. Cohen pioneered the study of Chinese law in the United States. He met with Zhou Enlai, trained Chinese officials and helped American firms set up in China. Now, even at 90, he presses Beijing on its human rights record. thewirechina.com/2020/11/15/mr-…

Hong Kongers have long faced the same problem: limited rights and representation anywhere in the past, despite considerable freedom offered by the British Empire. Since the Chinese takeover in 1997, we've been facing much worse. Solidarity with TW is both moral and necessary!
2149
3/ In the coming months, I will be facing a maximum of 5 years in jail for unauthorized assembly and up to one ridiculous year for wearing a mask in protest. But prison bars would never stop me from activism and thinking critically.

What is particularly shocking about this retaliatory move, after the Trump administration took action against several Chinese Communist Party-controlled outlets, is that for the first time, those foreign correspondents are also barred from reporting from Hong Kong and Macau.
