5/ #Hongkongers are not merely the people living in #HK or speaking Cantonese, but also those who strive to safeguard liberal values and democracy that we all cherish and #StandwithHK under authoritarian oppression, no matter who you are and where you live.
1252
4/ It was the time when the regime began to build Berlin Wall, and East Germany surrounded West Berlin amid the Cold War. When #Beijing tightens its grip in HK, the world starts to realize HK has become West Berlin, despite China’s propaganda campaigns whitewashing its crackdown.
1253
[My thought after HK police issued arrest warrants to my friends] patreon.com/posts/39964797/ 1/When #HKers hope to secure a historic majority in the upcoming election, Gov postponed election & asked #Beijing to deal with whether and how incumbent lawmakers can extend their tenure.
1254
6/ Meanwhile, #hkpolice has issued arrest warrants for 6 activists under #nationalsecuritylaw, including one American citizen, Samuel Chu, who just exercises his rights to free speech OVERSEAS and urges his own govt to pass legislation, but now falls prey to this sweeping law.
1255
8/ While #Beijing once claimed there would be no speech crime, the reality turns out to be the exact opposite. After all, the situation becomes more critical, especially after the election was postponed.
1256
9/ No one knows when the election will be reopened, whether the postponement will be extended, how the current legislature will be shaken up, and how many pro-democracy incumbents will be arrested under #nationalsecuritylaw.

Petition Against HK Government's plan on setting up polling stations in Mainland China: bit.ly/novotefromMain… 1/ Carrie Lam proposed HK to adopt overseas voting that setting up polling stations in the Greater Bay Area for HK citizens to vote in Mainland China in HK elections.
1261
2/ We strongly oppose Carrie Lam's proposal, given that such a proposal will create an opportunity for election fraud. We concern that the fairness of elections will be undermined.
1262
4/ It will also enable the government to influence the results of future elections by manipulating the results of polling stations in mainland China. It is abundantly clear that the proposal of overseas voting is politically driven and in favour of pro-Beijing candidates.
1263
3/ Beijing may block representatives of pro-democracy candidates or observers from entering mainland China which would leave the polling stations in mainland China unmonitorable.
1264
That’s the way for him to secure his personal safety in Mainland China. We knew it. Hope he will not be prosecuted and jailed by the Communist Regime. Sad. t.co/1i0vxFlFgv

I need to attend the court hearing on 5th August afternoon because of the protest outside Police HQ on June 2019. With the charges of organising, inciting and participating unauthorised assembly, It’s hard to say when will the day for me to be jailed by the authorities again.

Few unknown private cars are following me. I believe myself is now being followed after the new security law was passed. @BBC correspondent Danny Vincent reports there has been a marked change in the atmosphere in the city since the law came into force.

1/ Communist leaders plan to impose a rubber-stamp legislature when they announce the arrangements on legislative limbo next week. Beijing loyalists urge the government to bar all pro-democracy incumbents that have opposed the national security law from the new legislature.

2/ In our David and Goliath war, Hongkongers want to send a clear message to the world - We can all fight for a brighter future with our actions. To safeguard the liberal values that we all cherish, we hope the world can speak up for us when our voices cannot be heard.
1272
[I was prosecuted by the Government again just because of commemorating Tiananmen Square Massacre] 1/ Months after the Tiananmen Square vigil this year, I was just informed by Hong Kong Police that they will charge me with "knowingly taking part in an unauthorized assembly".
1273
2/ Just 24 hours after I have left the court yesterday morning, I am now facing another charge by the government. Clearly, the regime plans to stage another crackdown on the city's activists by all means. The date of my court appearance scheduled on 15 September.
1274
3/ More worryingly, due to the lengthy legal process, I will probably be further barred from leaving HK to tell our truth to the world even after my current case over police HQ siege ends. As our voices might not be heard soon, we hope the world can speaking up for HK's liberty.

4/ No matter what happens, I will continue to commit on the democracy movement in Hong Kong. Please support our fight: patreon.com/joshuawong
