5/ Beijing’s move is a direct retaliation on #hongkongers’ efforts to arouse awareness over the past one year. Beijing is attempting to silence #Hongkongers’ critical voices with force and fear.
1577
2/ Although the law is highly contentious in #Hongkong, and widespread backlash broke out when #HKgov introduced the law in 2003, Beijing this time deliberately chooses to ram through this unpopular law by completely ignoring the will of #Hongkongers.
1578
4/ The implication for all foreign organizations & investors is deadly dangerous since this arbitrarily defined law targets any ties with foreign bodies & organizations. Foreign reporters, academics & human right organizations have already been targeted & barred from HK.
1579
3/ This disputable legislation is promulgated without any legislative scrutiny, just by the direct promulgation by #Beijing authority. This new mechanism allows #Beijing to impose more China’s draconian laws without any legislature scrutiny.

1/ On the eve of HK's Tiananmen massacre vigil, Beijing is now scrapping its promise of #1country2systems by circumventing HK’s legislature and directly imposing the most controversial national security law #article23 upon Hong Kong.
1581
Before #Beijing is getting ready to impose the most controversial national security law upon #HongKong tonight. I unusually failed to post anything on my Facebook Page. #Article23 #nationalsecuritylaw #Hongkong
1582
This seems very deliberate in doing exactly what Article 23 would do, but at a much quicker pace. It also will save the LegCo from another prolonged standoff, so that body, of which the pro-establishment camp recently regained control, can focus on the national-anthem bill.

BREAKING: According to HK01, Beijing will announce sweeping new national-security protocols on #HongKong as early as tonight by listing it under the Basic Law's Annex III — which allows the territory to enforce Chinese laws — thus avoiding the local lawmaking process. twitter.com/hk01official/s…

Hey @Google, why there is no search suggestion on "黃色" if we search it on your search engine? Is this political censorship? (黃色 means Yellow, which is the colour of Pro-Democratic Camp; 藍色 means Blue, which is the colour of Pro-Beijing Camp.)

The thriving #YellowEconomicCircle shows a protest-led economy DOES work. We've boosted businesses during the virus, while reducing reliance on China. Let's take this initiative global! #黃色經濟圈 @SheridanAsia twitter.com/SheridanAsia/s…

#younglivesmatter is an English song from Boyz Reborn, a HK band. Currently countless youngsters are arrested, detained or abused by the HK police. This song is to urge the world to pay attention to the crisis that the youth are facing. Check it out. youtu.be/3rcGkGm2LNQ

8/ While Saudi Arabian military used Swiss-made APCs to crack down on Bahrain protests......With Beijing tightening its grip on HK amidst the Covid-19 crisis, who can guarantee that we won’t be seeing Swiss assault rifles next, found in the hands of HKPolice hunting down HKers?
1588
9/ Sales of crowd-control equipment to HK police must end. The free world must work together to stop extensive human rights abuses by cops backed by Communist China. Pressure your local government to sanction Beijing. Say no to a communist Hong Kong.

[Swiss Arms in HK:Sales of Crowd-control Equipment to HKPolice MUST END: change.org/p/switzerland-…] @SunnyCheungky @nathanlawkc @joshuawongcf 1/ ‘Raptors’, a notorious paramilitary unit of HKPolice, will be issued Swiss-made pistols that fire a crippling burst of pepper spray.

Congratulations to President @iingwen's second inauguration, and to @ChingteLai for entering the office of Vice President. As Taiwan continues to demonstrate to the world the vitality of its democracy, Hong Kongers look forward to more collaboration with our Taiwanese friends. twitter.com/iingwen/status…

It's essential for HKers to maintain momentum & raise global awareness. Even though Gov has abused the coronavirus measures to suppress any form of protest, we will try every means to call for changes. #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons is one of the means for us. japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/05/1…

1/ Since the CCP’s mouthpiece, CCTV, has recently condemned me as the prime culprit of the almost-a-year leaderless movement, I might face the cruellest round of political prosecutions. In fact, those that CCTV renounced, Jimmy Lai & Martin Lee have already been prosecuted.
1595
2/ However, since this movement is leaderless, it belongs to every Hongkonger who has been fighting with sweat and tear for freedoms and human rights for our next generations. In our cause for democracy, my personal future does not really matter.

[Publicis PR Firm MSL Pulls Out Of 'Relaunch Hong Kong' Tender] MSL has withdrawn from the 'Relaunch Hong Kong' PR tender, joining a number of global PR firms that have chosen to steer clear of the brief. 👏👏👏 provokemedia.com/latest/article…

7/ More importantly, this move will put the so-called promised autonomy under the 1Country2Systems formula to the test. When even the legislature is a rubber stamp, it Is doubtful whether Hong Kong can still maintain its special status as an independent tariff zone.
1598
8/ The latter will carry significant implications for international investors. On the street level, it is foreseeable that more protests will erupt, especially when Beijing starts to disqualify all pro-democracy candidates before the election.
1599
6/ The parliamentary majority is the only way for us to block this evil law. If, at the end, Beijing really dissolves the LegCo and disqualifies all elected lawmakers, it means Beijing is shutting down all peaceful mechanism to resolve political problems and grievance.
1600
4/ After the dissolution, Beijing will probably set up a pseudo-legislature & directly appoint members. That's not a crazy imagination since Beijing has done once in 1997! After HKers won a majority during 1995-1997, Beijing set up a Provisional LegCo.
