I really enjoyed Nic Cage’s performance in ‘Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent’; he’s always been more than just the quiet/loud dynamo and there’s huge pleasure to be had seeing his low key charming side. The fact that his imaginary muse is 1990 ‘Wogan’ Cage is hilarious too.

I’m thrilled to announce I’m creating an online course on filmmaking with @bbcmaestro. And I’d like you to be part of it. Ask me anything about you’ve always wanted to know about the filmmaking process below tagging @bbcmaestro and #EdgarWrightBBCM and it could feature in my Q&A.

A marvellous night hosting the lovely and talented Dan Kwan & Dan Scheinert AKA @Daniels at a preview of their extraordinary film ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. It’s finally out in the UK soon! What a movie! (IMAX previews in the UK at @cineworld tonight btw! Go see!)

Farewell to Fred Ward who gifted us with so many rugged, funny and relatable characters throughout his career and always had charm to burn. Loved him in ‘Tremors’, ‘Miami Blues’, ‘The Right Stuff’, ‘The Player’, ‘Southern Comfort’ and more. RIP and thanks for all the movies x

Happy Birthday Cate Blanchett x

Seeing Top Gun: Maverick for the third time tonight (in as many years, which is surreal). I only saw the original once. The new one is as good a reason as you’ll get for the big screen experience. The shots of the actors in the cockpits of real fighter jets are just breathtaking

Witness Michelle Yeoh burning up the screen as an action goddess! Incredible movie. twitter.com/Eurekavideo/st…

Too sad to conceive that Ray Liotta has passed. If he’d only made Goodfellas, it would be a credit to retire on. But he was incredible in Cop Land, Narc, Marriage Story & much more, especially his searing debut in Something Wild. His entrance at the end of this scene? Perfection.

New favourite photo. Ingmar Bergman in close proximity to some Cornettos. Did he order one? If so, does he prefer Mint, Strawberry or Classico? The answer, like the very meaning of life itself, remains a question mark.

‘Baby Driver’ was released 5 years ago to this day. I’m still so proud of the film & the work of a supernaturally talented crew. Among the beautiful responses I’ve had over the years is art from illustrators the world over. Allow me to post some again x (1st by @MattTaylorDraws)

RIP to a genuine megawatt movie star, Mr Jimmy Caan, star of not just The Godfather, but also Thief, Misery, Freebie And The Bean, Slither, Rollerball, Bottle Rocket, Gardens Of Stone, The Way Of The Gun, Honeymoon In Vegas, Elf & many more. Enjoy this deadpan classic. "Ta da."

Funny, but also a little alarming how this 28 year old clip of 'The Day Today' still remains ahead of the curve.

Check this out! A grocery store sign at @HarmonsGrocery in Utah by @RubenRhod referencing Marsha from ‘Spaced’. Can’t believe the great Julia Deakin is out there in a Utah grocery store. I love it! (Credit to Jessica Hynes and Simon Pegg for the one liner) x

Happy birthday to Dame Diana Rigg, (or DDR, as I called her), who would have been 84 today. I shall raise a Campari & Soda in her honour and suggest you do the same. Miss you x

As someone who entirely owes their break to the creative risk taking of @Channel4, I find the continuing push to privatise it completely pointless and depressing. It’s a British success story as it is and should be allowed to continue like this for another 40 years… (at least). twitter.com/guardian/statu…

Though the late Bob Rafelson had huge hits with later Jack Nicholson films, Easy Rider & Five Easy Pieces to name two, I’ll always love him first for co-creating The Monkees & directing their insane, wonderful film ‘Head’. I and many others have lovingly ripped it off. RIP Bob x
