Very sad to hear of David Warner's passing, an actor with a huge legacy on stage & screen and unforgettable roles in; Morgan: A Suitable Case For Treatment, Straw Dogs, From Beyond The Grave, The Omen, Time After Time, Time Bandits, Tron, Titanic and much more. He will be missed.

Thoroughly enjoyed @JordanPeele's NOPE on the big screen; full of arresting imagery, idiosyncratic details to chew on and (without spoiling anything) more enjoyable nods to desert set, 50's Universal sci-fi flicks like IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE than I expected. See it huge. 1/2

Joining in with the chorus of ‘Sweet Caroline’ more important than being live on the BBC. Confirmed.

Updated my very subjective 1000 favourite films list (thanks, as ever, to @monicafailure) to add some I've loved/rediscovered in the last 6 years. Please note that it's not a bible of ‘greatest’ films; but hope it’s fun to pore over or dive into. Enjoy! mubi.com/lists/edgar-wr…

Olivia Newton John so completely dominated the charts and Top Of The Pops when I was a kid, it felt like she WAS pop music. And yes, Xanadu is still a stone cold classic song. RIP x

Finally saw @RRRMovie on the big screen at the @BFI with a great crowd. What an absolute blast. So entertaining. The only film I have ever seen where the intermission card itself got a round of applause.

Happy 12th anniversary to ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs The World’. Am so lucky I got to make this with such an amazing cast and crew in Toronto. And even more grateful that it’s continued to find an audience long after opening weekend. Please stuff your face with garlic bread to celebrate.

Am frequently asked ‘How do I get into film directing?’ & the answer is never a short one. So when @bbcmaestro asked me to do a course on film-making, I accepted as a way of finally answering the question. I hope you will watch this course and be inspired. bbcm.co/ew

Hey UK! On Sept 3rd, more than 550 cinemas offer £3 tickets for all shows. in celebration of #NationalCinemaDay2022. I have very fond memories of similar days in the late 90's and once saw 6 movies in single day. But it's okay just to see one too. Enjoy!!! nationalcinemaday.uk

Having seen it with a full house at @FrightFest, I can confirm any self respecting horror/thriller fan simply has to see #Barbarian opening day. Go in cold, read nothing, skip the trailer & head on a ride with this twisty gnarly blast of a movie. Howls of fright & fun throughout.

Don’t say any more. I’m sold. twitter.com/Variety/status…

Finally caught David Cronenberg's return to body horror. We should be so lucky to see a master like this make a film so sly, heady & kinky in our bland content age. Gives you much to chew on (literally) & features scenes of people aroused by engorged organs. Out in the UK Friday!

Tonight at @LondonLafayette I saw a hugely entertaining acoustic show by @beck where he played ‘Ramona’ from Scott Pilgrim for the first time ever. Yes, I got my phone out to record it.

I may have seen this, but I am not at liberty to say that I think it's even better than the first one... oh. twitter.com/rianjohnson/st…

Dear Edgar. We think you’ll really enjoy this show we just cancelled.

RIP Jean-Luc Godard, one of the most influential, iconoclastic film-makers of them all. It was ironic that he himself revered the Hollywood studio film-making system, as perhaps no other director inspired as many people to just pick up a camera and start shooting...

Even if you didn’t see ‘X’, you must see ‘PEARL’, the 2nd great Ti West/Mia Goth film of 2022, on the big screen this weekend. A crimson red slice of Sirk with Goth giving one of the best performances in horror ever & a hilarious/terrifying closing shot for the ages. Don’t miss.

Whether you're going to bed or just getting up, there's no better way to end / start your day than watching the Madison dance scene from Jean-Luc Godard's Bande à part. 4 mins of pure cinematic joy.

Hey! My @bbcmaestro course on film-making is now live. I'm so excited for you to check it out and can’t wait to hear how the lessons and stories within inspire you to create. Hard cut to: me watching YOUR epic on the big screen. Enjoy! #BBCMaestro bbcm.co/ew

@GhostPanther The only time I have seen an audience applaud an intermission card. Amazing.

Very much enjoyed @billyeichner's 'BROS'; a frank, funny, emotional film which walks a high wire act from gleefully subverting the rom-com genre to making a beautifully sincere entry. Big big guffaws throughout. Billy & Luke Macfarlane are beyond charming in the leads. Go see x
