Today, the leadership of @NUP_Ug addressed the nation on the regime's handling of the COVID19 pandemic, characterised by gross corruption and mismanagement of public resources as highlighted by the Auditor General. We are making numerous proposals because Uganda deserves better

Our legal team secured orders for their unconditional release several months back, they were ignored! Over 350 supporters are still missing. Thousands are in prisons. These are crimes against humanity which Gen. Museveni and his criminal enforcers will have to account for.

Unbelievable! Eight months and the scars visible, some wounds fresh. They speak of how soldiers beat them up, cut their bodies, placed burning cigarettes on their private parts, and injected them with unknown substances. All this while, their arms were tied to the back.

Went through horrendous torture at the hands of security operatives. Were placed in a pit full of water, up to the chest and were forced to stay there for a month, while being interrogated on "Our Plan B." Only removed to go to the toilet and placed back, day and night.

Here are comrades Matovu Denis (21), Sonko Richard (25) and Turyatunga Bruce (36). Nakibuuka Soloome (44) is Matovu & Sonko's mother- gone through hell looking for her sons. They were abducted on 8th December last year, held incommunicado, severely tortured, until yesterday.

I continue to encourage friends and comrades to find time and read books. We must defeat the saying that if you want to hide something from an African, put it in a book! So today, I shared a list of 10 books which I've found insightful for friends to read over the next 6 months.

Very delighted to meet with our diaspora leadership team in Boston. The diaspora continues to play a very big role in advancing the cause for freedom and democracy in Uganda. Continue doing whatever you are doing. It will be worth it in the end. #StopSponsoringOurOppression

We welcome the Constitutional Court ruling declaring trial of civilians in military courts illegal! It's taken six years but better late than never. We hope the regime will respect it and free the hundreds of citizens held illegally by these courts. nupuganda.org/2021/07/02/sta…

To you all healthcare givers....

Not yet uhuru! Freedom of speech yet under attack in a new form. We must never stop protesting against these schemes by a paranoid, greedy regime. twitter.com/ntvuganda/stat…

Such an honor to connect, @cthagod. Thank you for using your greatness to make the world a better place for brothers and sisters near and far. None of us is free until all of us are free. #RealRecognisesReal

Very delighted to appear on @ZainAsher's program on CNN where I continued to make an appeal to the US & other gov'ts of the world to stop sponsoring a regime that has distinguished itself in crude violation of rights. #StopSponsoringOurOppression #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersUganda twitter.com/ZainAsher/stat…

This is what you get when a government prioritises politics over policy. They have been stocking teargas, rubber bullets, water cannons and other repressive tools, while hospitals and schools were left to their own devices. Will they learn anything from this crisis? I bet not.

For now, I encourage you all to realise we're absolutely on our own and take precautions to avoid getting infected. Deep condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Strength to the sick and those nursing them. Everyone is a potential victim. Everyone is a potential solution!

Ugandans recall how money meant to support vulnerable families with food during the last lockdown was swindled and the food itself couldn't reach most people. Liberation is the solution. As long as this corrupt, inept regime still illegally presides over, we are bound to see this
1168
Faced with increasing deaths and people in critical condition, Museveni imposed another lockdown for 42 days! The number of extremely poor and vulnerable Ugandans has increased. Many live hand to mouth. With no provision of social welfare, it is predictable what will happen.
1169
We found poorly paid police officers carrying brand new guns! You all remember how much money in billions was spent 'buying off' some of our supporters! This is what the regime does. They don't care about your healthcare or welfare. All they care about is how to keep in power.
1170
Those who are unlucky to get very sick are asked to pay 5 million shillings every day in a country where most citizens have no health insurance! A complete mess. Shame!!! During the election, in almost every district, we found brand new police vehicles and teargas trucks!
1171
While in countries like Malawi, the President cracked the whip and sacked ministers and officials who were involved in the fraud, Museveni has reappointed or even elevated officials who have chosen to enrich themselves at the expense of the lives of Ugandans.
1172
So here we are! Oxygen, not enough. ICU beds, only 218 in the whole country! Ambulances, not enough. Gen. Museveni had the audacity to say he asked officials to have 42,000 beds which wasn't done. How could they when they were busy looting the funds meant to manage the pandemic?
1173
This is a scandal! We had more than a year to plan and prepare for this moment. As always, Gen. Museveni's regime chose to embezzle billions borrowed or donated in the name of #COVID19. The Auditor General revealed 'grand theft' of COVID funds, except no one was punished. Thread

I join all freedom-loving people in mourning Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia's founding President. He's been one of the continent's few surviving independence heroes. I send sympathies to the people of Zambia and the family of the deceased statesman. May his soul rest in perfect peace
