Over the weekend I took @SenCoryGardner for a stroll in an area in Taipei known as Dadaocheng, the spiritual birthplace of #Taiwan’s democracy movement. I was delighted to have spent a Sunday afternoon with a like-minded friend who understands why #TaiwanMatters.

As Commander-in-Chief, I’ve been striving to enhance our defence capabilities since day one. Today we commenced production of our Tuo Chiang-class missile corvettes, showing our resolve to defend #Taiwan’s freedom & democracy.

With a deadweight of 208,000 tons, this is the biggest ship #Taiwan has ever built, and a testament to our shipbuilding capacity in Kaohsiung.
