If you wanna try to design an outstanding unique creature, you shouldn't refer to any creatures you love/like. Because it's almost impossible that your design will be beyond the references.

The map they are looking at is very similar to the map in the SH:origins. Is the video director a fan of it or SH series or something?

For those who believe the combination (Sichuan pepper & honey) is popular in Japan. It's not like that at all. I'm probably the only one who does it. I painted the 1st piece in 2008. Then I designed / painted the 3rd one based on it after painting the black pyramid head. Evidently I was into painting black creatures.
