There are some comments about the Union falsely attributed to me in the FT today. My parents moved to the United Kingdom, not England, because the Union represented an idea of opportunity. I am a strong believer in our union of four nations. Hope that clarifies that!

🚢Today I visited the iconic Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, where the next generation of @RoyalNavy support ships are being built - creating thousands of job opportunities. Northern Ireland and its people are an integral part of the UK's economic prosperity.

Incredibly sad to hear about the sudden death of Clare Drakeford. I know how committed Mark and Clare were to each other. I can’t imagine the pain Mark and his family will now be feeling. My heartfelt condolences go out to them.

Giving children the highest possible standard of education is the single most important reason I came into politics. It's the best economic, social and moral policy there is. I’m determined to support good teaching, improve attainment & drive excellence across our schools.

To people concerned by inaccurate reports that I told musicians to retrain... here’s the transcript. I did not say it and I do not think it. Musicians don't need to retrain. When it's safe, venues need to reopen. That's why we've created a £1.57bn package to protect the arts.

Great to meet @Minette_Batters @NFUtweets today. Farming is the lifeblood of our nation. As Prime Minister I will always back our farmers and make sure they have what they need to produce more high-quality, affordable British food.

No woman or girl should ever have to feel unsafe in her home or community. I am determined to stamp out domestic abuse. As well as extra support for victims, we’re making it a priority for the police to tackle violence and bring more perpetrators to justice.

Today I have written to the Prime Minister asking him to refer my ministerial declarations to the Independent Advisor on Ministers’ Interests. I have always followed the rules and I hope such a review will provide further clarity.

Poland has provided outstanding leadership in Europe since the invasion of Ukraine. Our countries work very closely together, ties that I know will only strengthen as we continue to stand with Ukraine and work with @NATO to bolster our collective security. twitter.com/MorawieckiM/st…

Over the last few days Ukraine has suffered one of the worst waves of missile strikes. Ukrainians remain undeterred. The UK in turn will continue to provide them with support to defend themselves. Today, we’re announcing new demining and anti-explosives kit. twitter.com/DefenceHQ/stat…

The whole country is shocked and appalled by the case of David Carrick. The abuse of power is truly sickening, and our thoughts are with his victims. The police must address the failings in this case, restore public confidence and ensure the safety of women and girls.

NEW: The first generation of #AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines will be built in the UK, based on the UK’s world-leading submarine design. Great news for British jobs and great news for global security.

One of the first things I did as Chancellor was hang a picture of Nigel Lawson above my desk. He was a transformational Chancellor and an inspiration to me and many others. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
