CALL FOR MUTUAL AID! Anjana is an Asian sex worker struggling to create a better life for herself and her daughter who was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. She’s been having a hard time with employment due to COVID-19 and the rise of anti-Asian violence. 1/

“”mutual aid is keeping people safe [by] meeting people’s needs in the immediate that are not being met by the systems that are in place,” Nguyen said, noting that these same systems criminalize Asian migrants, including massage workers” twitter.com/LVikkiml/statu…

Reminder we are a NYC based org, and while we are in contact with ATL based orgs they are the organizers on the ground. We are uplifting their requests and demands. Please support this fund for @AAAJ_Atlanta actionnetwork.org/fundraising/su…

There was a problematic Law&Order episode last week on death of 2 massage workers where @margaretcho played a trafficker. Like the NYT article about Yang Song, this narrative harms migrant sex workers by shifting blame to exotic “culture” rather than violent policing or poverty.

“I’m here to tell everyone listening that you deserve to live. You don’t have to prove your worth or your humanity or to fight for your every breath. And it’s so disturbing that we have to beg for our own existence. Beg to be seen.” -Yuh-Line Niou @yuhline

We do not support the building of ANY jails. This so called “feminist jail” will be used to incarcerate SWers, migrants, survivors, etc who are most often Black and Indigenous women and other women of color. Support the zap: docs.google.com/document/d/1et… twitter.com/abolitionistfe…

A view of the #8LivesVigil Art memorial (韧 Curtain Armor). The memorial is a simulacrum of a typical massage parlor, exposing the hidden workspace the migrant women workers call “home.” Inside are 3 massage beds set up as vigil altars w/ homemade foods & mourning tokens. twitter.com/RedCanarySong/…

We are trying to build a world where all the incidents of police violence and murder would not happen and the people we have lost would still be with us. That will not happen with any charge, conviction, or sentence served.

We did not meet our goal of 9k in recurring monthly donations, but we are getting closer. We have 34k followers on this account if 1/3 of our followers dedicated $1/month we would meet our goal. twitter.com/RedCanarySong/…

Please continue to support this fund. When we talk about the violent criminalization that affects people in the sex trades and trafficking survivors this is what we mean. Social services and government support continually fail. Collectively we have to support each other. twitter.com/RedCanarySong/…

"This country’s first immigration laws targeted Chinese women because of fears of Asian sexualities. We cannot separate the Atlanta shooting from last Monday’s plane deporting Vietnamese refugees." -Turner, @18millionrising

"This is not a single incident. This incident reflects all the problems of our society, and all the problems that makes sex work and massage parlor work dangerous. The question we have to ask is, how many funerals do we have to attend?" -Elene Lam, @ButterflyCSW

"Society knows how to fix the problem, but they continue to harm the community because of their moral agenda, their racist ideas. People are killed by sexism, racism, whorephobia, by the state, and by NGOs that claim to rescue sex workers." -Elene @ButterflyCSW

"As we mourn the deaths, let us also hold close, the survivors, the injured and those who faced this horror. And let us hold close the vast communities of Asian women who are devastated by fear." -Yin Q, @RedCanarySong
