Eight workers in massage parlors have been killed in Atlanta. This is horrific, and is indicative of the violence that massage workers face daily. We are saddened and angered to learn of this, and we are sending our love to the workers in Atlanta.

Many people who have engaged with us recently do not know or do not remember that we were formed in reaction to the murder of Yang Song at the hands of the NYPD.
5
These deaths somehow mean more because of the rise in anti-Asian violence related to COVID-19, but no mention of how they’re connected to the long policing of Asian sex work, which so many Asian Americans and those speaking up against anti-Asian hate endorse.
7
We appreciate the overwhelming support we have gotten overnight, and understand that many people are looking to us in this moment. Please read our response on the 8 lives lost in Atlanta.

We knew this would happen, and are still telling everyone more policing or any policing at all doesn't keep people safe ESPECIALLY Asian and migrant massage workers. twitter.com/Tom_Winter/sta…
9
If you are engaging with us because of anti-Asian violence, know that we are an explicitly anti-police collective. We hold our history close and ground ourselves in the roots of where we started this work.
10
Police are arresting, deporting, and killing migrant Asian people. Policing is an unacceptable remedy for migrant Asian communities. Furthermore, the CRC was developed as part of the NYPD’s counterterrorism unit, a “highly trained team of officers ... trained in special weapons." twitter.com/Tom_Winter/sta…
11
We do not ask people to disclose whether they are massage workers, sex workers, survivors, etc. before we provide support. That’s what the cops and the people who work with them do.

We are looking for ASL, Chinese, and Korean interpreters for our vigil tomorrow. Please DM us if you are one or know one that is available.

Decriminalization of sex work is the only way, and the only path to decriminalization is abolition of police and prisons twitter.com/whitney_hu/sta…

Sexual violence has long been a tool of policing. Massage workers and sex workers would know. Police officers in NYC have routinely assaulted both sex workers and massage workers before, during, and after their arrests. This is unacceptable and has always been unacceptable twitter.com/catsnotcops/st…

In response to the charges for the shootings in Atlanta at three massage businesses being released we have written this joint statement with @survivepunish. We took time and care to write this and want to reaffirm our position as PIC abolitionists.
