Fighting for climate justice is also fighting for democracy. Our civilization will be increasingly threatened as the planet destabilises, putting everything at risk, including democracy. This is a major threat. Democracy is everything. We can't save the living planet without it.

"We don’t prioritize the climate today. Our goal isn't to lower emissions. Our goal is to find solutions that allow us to continue life today. Of course you can ask “Can’t we have both?” But the uncomfortable truth is that we've left it too late for that." washingtonpost.com/magazine/2021/…

To have a chance of minimizing further irreparable damage, we have to choose: either we safeguard living conditions for all future generations, or we let a few very fortunate people maintain their constant, destructive search to maximize immediate profits. time.com/6254639/greta-…

Wildfires, floods, droughts, heatwaves and other (un)natural disasters rage all over the world. Many now ask "What will it take for people in power to act?". Well, it will many things, but above all it will take: massive pressure from media and massive pressure from the public.

To be crystal clear: I am not “against” Israel or Palestine. Needless to say I’m against any form of violence or oppression from anyone or any part. And again - it is devastating to follow the developments in Israel and Palestine.

Our so-called “role models”indeed have some work to do. Pretty hard to “solve” the climate crisis without addressing this elephant in the room... #MindTheGap #ClimateJustice

If we delay emission cuts we “will miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all.” Every sentence describing the new #IPCC report is completely life changing. Literally everything is at stake. apnews.com/article/climat…

We're destabilizing the planet. Meanwhile our leaders continue to destroy present and future living conditions - opening new pipelines, oilfields and investing fantasy amounts into fossil fuel infrastructure, despite all the beautiful words. #MindTheGap between words and action. twitter.com/ScottDuncanWX/…

"The time has come to voice our fears and be honest with wider society. Current net zero policies will not keep warming to within 1.5°C because they were never intended to. They were and still are driven...to protect business as usual, not the climate." -> theconversation.com/climate-scient…

This is what WMO says. Yet, again, many media outlets fail to make the connection. Instead they show happy people on beaches, pools or playing in fountains. Now scores of people have died from the heatwave and the record breaking Canadian town's on fire. #FaceTheClimateEmergency twitter.com/WMO/status/141…

In the German Rhineland, six further villages are planned to be destroyed to expand the largest coal mine of Europe. This is absurd. Today we visited those defending the villages and fighting for the coal to stay in the ground. We are standing with you. #AlleDörferBleiben

"The global average temperature will rise 2.7 degrees Celsius by century’s end even if all countries meet their promised emissions cuts" And we're of course far from reaching even these highly insufficient targets. How long will we let this madness go on? nytimes.com/2021/09/17/cli…

About 1 in 4 people in high-income countries have received a COVID-19 vaccine, compared with just 1 in more than 500 in low-income countries. My foundation will donate €100000 to support COVAX to ensure a more equitable global COVID-19 vaccine distribution. #VaccineEquity

The fashion industry is a huge contributor to the climate-and ecological emergency, not to mention its impact on the countless workers and communities who are being exploited around the world in order for some to enjoy fast fashion that many treat as disposables. 1/3

“UN says global carbon emissions set to rise 16 per cent by 2030” This is what betrayal looks like. Whatever our so-called “leaders” are doing, they are doing it wrong. newscientist.com/article/229074…

"The combined wealth of the world's 10 richest men rose by $540bn during the pandemic, according to Oxfam. The charity claims this amount would be enough to prevent the world from falling into poverty because of the virus, and pay for vaccines for all." bbc.com/news/world-557…

”A leaked document showed more than 124,000 items marked as 'destroy' in just a week.” This is just ONE warehouse. If you have a system where this possible - and even profitable - that’s a clear sign that something is fundamentally wrong. twitter.com/itvnews/status…

"There are more delegates at COP26 associated with the fossil fuel industry than from any single country" I don't know about you, but I sure am not comfortable with having some of the world's biggest villains influencing & dictating the fate of the world. bbc.com/news/science-e…

"The Biden administration has issued at least 31 new drilling permits authorizing operations on federal land and coastal waters." Well well well... while we do appreciate beautiful speeches and promises - we prefer action. rigzone.com/news/wire/bide…

Politicians and political partys are lying us straight in the face. There's no party that is doing nearly enough. They're failing us. Only voting won't be enough. We need to be active democratic citizens to safeguard basic living conditions. See you in the streets September 24th. twitter.com/Luisamneubauer…
