“Many are asking what it’ll take for people in power to wake up. But let’s be clear - they’re already awake. They know exactly what they’re doing. They know exactly what priceless values they’re sacrificing to maintain business as usual.” My speech from today’s march in Glasgow. twitter.com/Reuters/status…

”Our relationship with nature is broken. But relationships can change. When we protect nature - we are nature protecting itself.” Thank you @MercyForAnimals for sponsoring this film by @tommustill and me. #ForNature #BiodiversityDay

Wow. This is truly what people power looks like. #FridaysForFuture #UprootTheSystem twitter.com/stuart_gibson/…

"The science is unequivocal; a global increase of 1.5C above the pre-industrial average and the continued loss of biodiversity risk catastrophic harm to health that will be impossible to reverse." Over 200 health journals call for urgent climate action. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Happy New Year! May 2021 be the year of awakening and real bold change. And let’s all continue the never-ending fight for the living planet. #FaceTheClimateEmergency #FightFor1point5

The new IPCC report contains no real surprises. It confirms what we already know from thousands previous studies and reports - that we are in an emergency. It’s a solid (but cautious) summary of the current best available science. 1/2

I started striking from school on August 20th 2018 ahead of the Swedish general election. It has now been 4 years since then, and a new election is on its way. We are still here, but the climate crisis is still absent from the debate. 1/4

#COP26 has been named the must excluding COP ever. This is no longer a climate conference. This is a Global North greenwash festival. A two week celebration of business as usual and blah blah blah.
34
Definite cause of serious annoyance.

I am pleased to announce that I’ve decided to go net-zero on swear words and bad language. In the event that I should say something inappropriate I pledge to compensate that by saying something nice. #COP26

Today is #AutismAwarenessDay. At the age of 12 I was diagnosed with Asperger, a form of autism. At that time I had no idea what it meant. When I and my parents told people I was autistic, they always reacted with shock since I didn’t fit into the stereotype of autistic people.1/7

Deadly heatwaves, floods, storms, wildfires, droughts, crop failures... This is not “the new normal”. We’re at the very beginning of a climate and ecological emergency, and extreme weather events will only become more and more frequent. #FaceTheClimateEmergency

"Since the Paris Agreement on climate change was signed in 2015, the organisation says on average four activists have been killed each week." #DefendTheDefenders bbc.com/news/science-e…

“Brazil sure did not start this crisis, but your leaders are adding a lot of fuel to the fire. Just because the leaders of the global north have failed, that is no excuse for Brazil not to take a different path.” Yesterday @sam_sateremawe and I spoke in the Brazilian senate.

"None of the world's major economies - including the entire G20 - have a climate plan that meets their obligations under the 2015 Paris Agreement" This is of course excluding huge parts of our emissions and aspect of equity. Not even then are we on track. edition.cnn.com/2021/09/15/wor…

Once again: heat records are usually broken by tenths of a degree - not 4.6°C. We're in a climate emergency that has never once been treated as an emergency. #FaceTheClimateEmergency twitter.com/ScottDuncanWX/…

Finally in Glasgow for the #COP26! And thank you for the very warm welcome…😅

#InternationalWomensDay is not for celebrating. It is for protesting against and raising awareness about the fact that people are still being oppressed or treated differently because of their gender.

Today, many of you will have the opportunity to make a choice. Your vote will affect billions of people around the world. Your vote will affect countless of generations to come. Use it. Use it well. Every election is a climate election. #ElectionDay

Freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest and assembly are non-negotiable human rights. These must be a fundamental part of any democracy. #StandWithDishaRavi twitter.com/FFFIndia/statu…

Unless we achieve immediate, drastic, unprecedented, annual emission cuts at the source then that means we’re failing when it comes to this climate crisis. “Small steps in the right direction”, “making some progress” or “winning slowly” equals loosing. #COP26 #UprootTheSystem

Today, after yesterday's #IPCC report, everything is back to normal – as always. We continue to ignore the climate crisis as if nothing happened. Our societies are still in denial, and those in power go on with their never ending quests to maximise profits. We cannot afford this.

This week Norway awarded 61 new oil and gas exploration rights to 30 oil companies. Sweden's Lundin Oil was awarded stakes in 19 licenses. It's 2021 and when it comes to facing the climate emergency the world is still in a state of complete denial. reuters.com/article/uk-nor…
