"New Zealand is one of the world’s worst performers on emission increases. Its emissions rose by 57% between 1990 and 2018 – the second greatest increase of all industrialised countries." writes The Guardian. theguardian.com/world/2021/aug…

"Om inte media lyckas öppna allmänhetens ögon för denna sortens falska klimatåtgärder kommer varken medborgare eller väljare kräva förändring, och så länge politiker och bolag kommer undan med att ljuga är det inte så konstigt att få kräver förändring" aftonbladet.se/debatt/a/jz8b1…

So much for "carbon offsets"... twitter.com/jjaron/status/…
409
What some call ”climate action” is actually outsourcing and excluding consumption, setting vague distant targets, burning biomass instead of fossil fuels and excluding the emissions, offsetting, switching from one disastrous energy source to a slightly less disastrous one etc.2/2

Some people make it seem as if we’re not doing enough to stop the climate crisis. But that’s not true. Because to not do enough, you have to do something. And the truth is that we are basically not doing anything apart from “creative carbon accounting” and creating loopholes.1/2

Wildfires, floods, droughts, heatwaves and other (un)natural disasters rage all over the world. Many now ask "What will it take for people in power to act?". Well, it will many things, but above all it will take: massive pressure from media and massive pressure from the public.

Today is #WorldOvershootDay - the day when we've used up the world's resources for 2021. On national levels this date varies a lot. In my country Sweden it occurs on April 6th. We're not just stealing the future - we're also stealing the present from other parts of the world.

“There is growing evidence we are getting close to or have already gone beyond tipping points associated with important parts of the Earth system". theguardian.com/environment/20…

This is very hopeful and groundbreaking journalism. I urge journalists in countries around the world to do the same research. This is a problem far from unique to so-called “progressive“ countries like Sweden… This is a crucial first step to start addressing the crisis.
420
Less than one third (!) of Sweden’s total CO2 emissions are included in our climate targets, and we’re not even close to reaching those targets… How can we solve - or even discuss - a crisis if we ignore more than two thirds of the problem? #MindTheGap dn.se/sverige/sverig…

No one is safe until everyone is safe. But when you get offered a vaccine, don’t hesitate. It saves lives. #VaccineEquity #VaccineForAll

According to New York Times; “84 percent of shots that have gone into arms worldwide have been administered in high- and upper-middle-income countries. Only 0.3 percent of doses have been administered in low-income countries.” 2/3

Today I got my first COVID-19 vaccination dose. I am extremely grateful and privileged to be able to live in a part of the world where I can already get vaccinated. The vaccine distribution around the world is extremely unequal. 1/2
