"The global average temperature will rise 2.7 degrees Celsius by century’s end even if all countries meet their promised emissions cuts" And we're of course far from reaching even these highly insufficient targets. How long will we let this madness go on? nytimes.com/2021/09/17/cli…

“UN says global carbon emissions set to rise 16 per cent by 2030” This is what betrayal looks like. Whatever our so-called “leaders” are doing, they are doing it wrong. newscientist.com/article/229074…

“Brazil sure did not start this crisis, but your leaders are adding a lot of fuel to the fire. Just because the leaders of the global north have failed, that is no excuse for Brazil not to take a different path.” Yesterday @sam_sateremawe and I spoke in the Brazilian senate.

"We believe our unextractable numbers are likely underestimates (too low for achieving 1.5°C)" says author @st_pye Remember: this is for a 50% chance of us staying below 1.5°C with a high reliance on carbon removal. Also it doesn’t include aspect of equity or historic emissions. twitter.com/CNN/status/143…

The EU discuss its so-called "climate targets" in an event "presented by Shell". It's hard to picture a better way to summarize our current situation. If nothing else, at least it's refreshingly honest. twitter.com/POLITICOEurope…

Politicians and political partys are lying us straight in the face. There's no party that is doing nearly enough. They're failing us. Only voting won't be enough. We need to be active democratic citizens to safeguard basic living conditions. See you in the streets September 24th. twitter.com/Luisamneubauer…

Banning "fossil advertising" is of course a good start. But if we are to avoid the worst consequences of the climate crisis we cannot just strive to be "fossil free", but free from all greenhouse gas intense practices. There's no room left for loopholes and non-holistic thinking.

”Even if we stop all emissions from non-food sectors (energy and industry) today, food emissions alone would take us well beyond 1.5°C by 2100.” But sure, let's just leave this to the consumers to take care of by "voting with their wallets"... twitter.com/ProjectDrawdow…
