“Brazil sure did not start this crisis, but your leaders are adding a lot of fuel to the fire. Just because the leaders of the global north have failed, that is no excuse for Brazil not to take a different path.”
Yesterday @sam_sateremawe and I spoke in the Brazilian senate.

Unless we achieve immediate, drastic, unprecedented, annual emission cuts at the source then that means we’re failing when it comes to this climate crisis.
“Small steps in the right direction”, “making some progress” or “winning slowly” equals loosing.

Time is running out. Change won’t come from these conferences like #COP26 unless there is big public pressure from the outside.
Join the climate strike this Friday (Kelvingrove Park 11am), and the climate march Saturday (11.30am) to make your voice heard. Together we are strong.

”Our relationship with nature is broken. But relationships can change. When we protect nature - we are nature protecting itself.”
Thank you @MercyForAnimals for sponsoring this film by @tommustill and me.

Deadly heatwaves, floods, storms, wildfires, droughts, crop failures...
This is not “the new normal”.
We’re at the very beginning of a climate and ecological emergency, and extreme weather events will only become more and more frequent.

Now as #COP26 is coming to an end, beware of a tsunami of greenwashing and media spin to somehow frame the outcome as “good”, “progress”, “hopeful” or “a step in the right direction”.

UK government has announced "a bee-killing pesticide so poisonous that it is banned by the EU" may be used in England.
New coal mines and pesticides... the UK's so called "green industrial revolution" is off to a great start.
Very credible indeed.

We are filing a legal petition to the UN secretary-general urging him to declare the climate crisis a global level 3 emergency – the UN’s highest category.

"The science is unequivocal; a global increase of 1.5C above the pre-industrial average and the continued loss of biodiversity risk catastrophic harm to health that will be impossible to reverse."
Over 200 health journals call for urgent climate action.

About 1 in 4 people in high-income countries have received a COVID-19 vaccine, compared with just 1 in more than 500 in low-income countries.
My foundation will donate €100000 to support COVAX to ensure a more equitable global COVID-19 vaccine distribution. #VaccineEquity

To have a chance of minimizing further irreparable damage, we have to choose: either we safeguard living conditions for all future generations, or we let a few very fortunate people maintain their constant, destructive search to maximize immediate profits.

Today, after yesterday's #IPCC report, everything is back to normal – as always. We continue to ignore the climate crisis as if nothing happened. Our societies are still in denial, and those in power go on with their never ending quests to maximise profits. We cannot afford this.

This week Norway awarded 61 new oil and gas exploration rights to 30 oil companies. Sweden's Lundin Oil was awarded stakes in 19 licenses.
It's 2021 and when it comes to facing the climate emergency the world is still in a state of complete denial.
