”Let’s face facts. The state of our planet is broken. Humanity is waging war on Nature. This is suicidal.
Nature always strikes back, and is doing so with gathering force and fury.” - UN Secretary General @antonioguterres

“The current and near-future ice loss will be largely irreversible. That’s why it is high time we rapidly and substantially reduce emissions from burning fossil fuels and restabilise the ice sheet and our climate.”

This is one of the most important and informative texts I have ever read on the climate- and ecological crises. It's quite long, but worth every second of reading. Please republish and share wherever possible.

School strike week 223. Today we are 636 young people in @auroramalet who are suing the Swedish state for insufficient climate action. Therefore we now marched from the parliament to the court.

@DrTedros says vaccine inequality is "becoming more grotesque every day".

Swedens biggest newspaper has mapped Sweden's total CO2 emissions.
Turns out they're about 200% (!) higher than the official numbers if you don't only count domestic fossil emissions.
It's pretty hard to solve a crisis if you ignore two thirds of the problem... twitter.com/GretaThunberg/…

Richest 1% in Sweden emit about 43tonnes CO2 per person/year. 50% with lowest income emit 4,5tonnes according to Oxfam.
Other studies say Stockholmers emit way more than nat'l average
Lack of climate justice isn't just between countries, it's also within.

Many new emission reduction announcements have been presented lately. Here is a sobering reminder to put things in context...

”The climate crisis has driven the world to the brink of multiple “disastrous” tipping points, according to a major study.
It shows five dangerous tipping points may already have been passed due to the 1.1C of global heating caused by humanity to date.”

So apparently California will continue to extract oil for another 2,5 decades... And yet this is somehow seen as “good news”.
The gap between the urgency needed and where the discussion is at is becoming more and more absurd.
