A colossal statue of the Roman Emperor Hadrian (r. 117 to 138 AD) found in the ruins of a bathhouse at Sagalossos, a Greco-Roman city in south-central Turkey. It is estimated the statue stood between 13 and 16 feet (4 and 5 meters) tall.

The rulers of Commagene, a kingdom founded north of Syria and the Euphrates, left behind several breathtakingly beautiful funerary sanctuaries. Mount Nemrut (today Adiyaman, Turkey), the most impressive of all the tomb sites, is that of Antiochos I of Commagene (69-34 BC).
