There's a 2018 Splatoon developer interview with Famitsu magazine that notably has lots of Salmonid info, but it's loaded with all kinds of lore tidbits which hadn't been translated in its entirety...until now!

there are canonical names AND locations for the two basketball teams we see on jerseys in-game!
on the left is the Okhotsk Uniers, and on the right is the Tasman Lob-Stars. This may imply that there are regions in-universe named after nearby seas.
