I'm starting to think that the reason why dark skin is so poorly represented in art because it's thought as a single shade that isn't pale..
I often see the excuse "they look brown enough to me/they're still brown" on here.
it's not good enough if it barely registers as a brown

why are women/girls expected to "grow up" from liking cute things? what does liking hello kitty have to do with not being mature? this incessant need for women to be "grown" and "womanly" is so tiring twitter.com/GL0RYG1RL/stat…

it's interesting even when my dark skin and pastels guide is reposted, people still go "that's not pastels!" as if I were to wear a pink skirt in real life my skin colour would become three shades lighter
a lot of you just don't want to put in the work

for most fictional white characters their whiteness is not integral to the character, they're only white because white is the default. it's not racism to want to see your likeness as the default mainstream twitter.com/9thWither/stat…

one day the art community is going to have to contend with the fact that many artists believe black features are unattractive and devalues anything that isn't twitter.com/HarmoniaAtLast…
