I was recently told there is an entire industry of "news" sites that hire people in developing countries and pay them a few dollars to write clickbait targeted to western readers. Not just entertainment, but politics and even local news. No editors or fact checkers are involved.

Twitter alternatives fail because they try to cater to a community. Twitter is not a community. Twitter is a Florida meth war inside a hurricane. People are here to bathe in blood and collect screenshots of protected accounts like a necklace of human ears.
