RIP Richard Schmid. One of the most influential painters to me personally. We used his teachings with all the artists we trained at Tonko House too. He inspired us all to see beauty in ordinary life. 🙏🙏

僕は光と色のデザインを専門にアニメーションの仕事をしてきましたが全ての基礎は外で実際の光を観察して描いてきた積み重ねです。絵の技術よりも光や空気感のバリエーションのボキャブラリーを蓄積していく感覚。写真から描くよりも近道です。

だから社会人になってから貯金は毎年の休暇の貧乏旅行にあてた。世界の「色と光」がこんなにも違うんだって絵を描きながらドキドキした感覚は描いた絵以上に体内に残ってる。育った日本の美しさを絵描きの目で見れるようになったのも同じ。絵を描く事は、「描く技術」よりも「観察力」をつけること。

Watch #luca Today! I think it is one of the most original and appealing film out of recent films with heartwarming story with appealing animation and stunning production design. I may be biased because many of my favorite people’s finger prints all over it but I loved it😍😍😍
