A sickening, horrifying report. No more words. No more excuses. We have to act. #Uyghurs bbc.com/news/world-asi… twitter.com/ipacglobal/sta…

⚠️The tireless @Nus_Ghani has secured an Urgent Question tomorrow on “the treatment of Uyghur women in Xinjiang’s detention camps” How much more evidence do you need? Give #Uyghurs their day in court. bbc.com/news/world-asi…
254
Why is the @StateDept expressing outrage about the systematic rape of #Uyghurs before our own Government? This was a @BBCNews story. And it should have run at the top of every bulletin. reuters.com/article/us-chi…

Do we think it likely that a government which describes mass internment, forced sterilisation, family separation, brainwashing, and rape as “human rights protection” will honour its promise to “move towards” ratifying forced labour treaties, @vonderleyen? twitter.com/ChinaMissionGv…

The courage. The BBC report seems to have given others the confidence to speak out about rape and torture in the camps. #Uyghurs twitter.com/democracynow/s…

Chinese Government Minister accuses @Nus_Ghani of lying. Hoping her colleagues and our party will stand with her and publicly denounce this “diplomacy”. twitter.com/MahuiChina/sta…

#HongKong you need to get back on Twitter. It shapes reporting and influences politicians. We wouldn't have got the BN(O) policy without it. Yes, it's not a perfect platform, but you have to work with the tools you've got.

👇@BBCJLandale reports on Alison Macdonald QC 100 page legal opinion concluding that Uyghurs are suffering genocide and crimes against humanity. Also that both @CommonsForeign and @LordsIRCom have rejected @neill_bob amendment. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-559732…

BREAKING: there will be no vote on the #GenocideAmendment tomorrow. Even if we beat the Government's wrecking amendment, it will not be possible to "ungroup" the two amendments it seeks to wreck. Two (completely different) amendments. Only one vote.
265
I think we'll be looking at mass abstentions tomorrow. The #GenocideAmendment passed the Lords with a 171 vote majority. The Government is preventing the @HouseofCommons from voting on it at all.
266
Worried about losing. But not sufficiently worried about genocide. #GenocideAmendment twitter.com/BBCJLandale/st…

Latest: Government *deliberately* tabled their amendment 2nd to preclude the Speaker accepting a manuscript amendment. Now 100% certain this was to prevent a Commons vote on the #GenocideAmendment Whips also going nuts about @LOS_Fisher exposing their bullying. Not a good look.
268
Managing expectations: Government has prevented a vote on the #GenocideAmendment so only one vote counts today: The vote on @neill_bob wrecking amendment. If it passes, we put courts back in when it goes to the Lords. If it fails, we put entire amendment back in the Lords. 👏
269
BREAKING: Government amendment narrowly passes 318 to 303 Now to the Lords, where we will re-insert the courts, and send it back to the Commons so they can actually vote on it. Thanks to everyone working so hard on this. The arc of justice is long!

From the MPs - often courageous in the face of whips’ bullying - to the grassroots campaigners and Uyghur, Yazidi, and Holocaust survivors, this is the best campaign I have ever had the privilege to run. We will get there. 🙏🏼 #GenocideAmendment bbc.com/news/uk-politi…

Note to self: don’t try to light a cigarette on a windy day with alcohol gel all over your hands.

This is tremendously sad news for the people of China and for the BBC. I hope that BBC journalists will still be able to report from Beijing. twitter.com/qingqingparis/…

Krish is doing a huge amount to welcome Hong Kong BN(O)s. @pritipatel should establish a BN(O) Commission with people like Krish on it to enable the UK to ensure this unprecedented scheme runs smoothly. twitter.com/krishk/status/…

Hong Kong has moved to give the Director of Immigration powers to stop anyone leaving, for any reason. It’s pretty rare for even the most totalitarian regimes to try to prevent people from getting out. Truly shocking. thestandnews.com/politics/%E5%8…
