Today is my 37th birthday. I am very grateful to God for each day that He has allowed me to live. I do not take it for granted considering the challenges I have gone through over the years, the injustices I've seen people go through & the friends I have lost along the way...

This past year, I came closest to death after the Arua incidents. And because God allowed me to live, I decided to celebrate this birthday with some of the most vulnerable people in our midst, who many times come close to life threatening situations....

Today we remember the sacrifice of late Archbishop Janan Luwum who was martyred for speaking truth to power and standing for the rights of the people of Uganda. We are encouraged by his example that it is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!
335
He could have chosen to keep quiet and remain neutral which is always safer, but as Archbishop Desmond Tutu cautions, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.
336
If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse & you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." May his memory be blessed & may we be guided by his example, to always stand for what is true, just & fair even in the face of difficult odds.

This evening, our brother and comrade in the struggle Hon. Francis Zaake Butebi, Member of Parliament for Mityana Municipality, was abducted while in traffic jam, and taken into custody at the Central Police Station.
341
He tells me that it is not clear why he has been arrested in such an indignified manner, but suspects they've arrested him over the Arua incidents where he was tortured to near death. The government alleged that the man who could barely see or walk escaped from custody!
342
I talked with him a few minutes ago and assured him of our support and comradeship, including taking measures to enable him secure his freedom at the earliest. We shall overcome!

I've been asked a couple of times by media & other analysts to comment about the different communications on social media & other platforms about the on-goings in our country, more particularly within the forces of change. Some of those write-ups even indicate me as the author...

As a leader I can only come in to offer guidance and advice here and there whenever I have time. Therefore, in a few hours, I will give my position. A blessed Sunday to you all. #GetYourNationalID #FunaEndagamuntu

Remember when I said, "Afande, we are not fighting you. We are fighting for you." This is what I meant. @PoliceUg We are fighting for you. We are fighting for your dignity. For your well being. We are fighting so that you can be respected in your country- in your uniform.

Yesterday, I addressed students' leaders from different universities in East Africa, at their 3rd Annual Conference held at the Mandela Institute of Science and Technology, in Arusha - Tanzania.

I also challenged them to understand that Africa's problem has all along never been it's people, climate or anything else- it has been squarely a failure of leadership. I told them that we must work hard to change the fortunes of our people- otherwise we shall have betrayed them.
