Today I gathered with members of the Jewish & diplomatic communities in Taiwan to remember the victims of the Holocaust. As we work to address discrimination & authoritarianism around the world, it is more important than ever that we never forget this tragedy.

With local cases on the rise, I want to call for calm & confidence in #Taiwan's COVID-19 response strategy. With ongoing vaccination & targeted use of medical resources, we continue to pursue our goal of mitigating harm while also ensuring the health of our economy.

33 years ago, Nylon Deng gave his life in defense of democratic ideals. Today, on Freedom of Speech Day in #Taiwan, we commemorate Nylon & other Taiwanese for their resistance to authoritarianism, as we strengthen our democratic resilience against disinformation & other threats.
