The political goals of a single country should never be more important than global health security. I strongly condemn #China for trying to deprive #Taiwan’s 23 million people of their right to be part of the #globalhealth security network. #TaiwanCanHelp
My foremost responsibility as president is to keep the people of #Taiwan safe. I'm proud that last weekend our military, police, & coast guard carried out joint exercises, showing our counterterrorism capabilities & resolve to protect our country from invasion.
Trade between #Taiwan and the #US continues to reach historic highs, and last month marked a record 31 consecutive months of year-on-year export growth. As president, I’m committed to bolstering Taiwan’s economy, so that Taiwanese businesses can shine on the world stage.
Nuestros encantadores amigos paraguayos han llamado Kunu'u a nuestra hermosa orquídea. Esta es una muestra más de nuestra parte que celebra la larga amistad entre #Taiwan y #Paraguay. twitter.com/silvana_abdo/s…
The best way to ensure peace is through strong self-defence. This week, we officially inaugurated #Taiwan’s submarine manufacturing factory, taking a big step forward towards stronger self-defence capabilities.
Throughout #Taiwan, I met people from all walks of life at local temples & often had the most inspiring conversations. That helps me be a better president. Through democratic dialogue, our country is moving forward as people come together & push for change.
Wishing all mothers in #Taiwan & around the world a very happy #MothersDay!
A case of African swine flu was reported in our neighbour, #HongKong. As #Taiwan serves as a transportation hub for the region, our sniffer dogs are working very hard to protect our local swine industry & prevent an outbreak in Taiwan.
#China is taking advantage of #Taiwan's free and open democracy to create divisions in our society. But rest assured: We will never compromise on #PressFreedom. NEVER. twitter.com/RSF_eastasia/s…
Global health is an important issue & what happens at #WHA is an important story. However, for the past few years, that story has been incomplete because one chapter has been missing: The chapter on #Taiwan.
Thankfully, many countries understand that to achieve #HealthForAll, everyone has to be on board. So up until today, many like-minded countries including #Australia, #Canada, #France, #Germany, #Japan, the #US & #UK chose to #SpeakUpForTaiwan & help complete the #WHA story.
Foreign missions in Taiwan work day in & day out to bring our countries closer together. With the #WHA approaching, I want to thank them for choosing to #SpeakUpForTaiwan’s right to health, and recognising the important contributions we can make to #globalhealthsecurity.
Three cheers for growing #Taiwan-#EU ties! We already share strong synergies in transportation, energy, the digital economy, & people-to-people exchanges. We look forward to signing a bilateral investment agreement with the EU & accomplishing more together!
Investments in #Taiwan are gaining steam. Many Taiwanese companies have already returned & invested over NTD250 billion (USD8 billion) this year to date. To unleash the potential of our economy, I gave the Economics Ministry a new stretch goal for this year: NTD500 billion!
Good morning #Taiwan. Today, we have a chance to make history & show the world that progressive values can take root in an East Asian society. Today, we can show the world that #LoveWins.
On May 17th, 2019 in #Taiwan, #LoveWon. We took a big step towards true equality, and made Taiwan a better country. 🏳️‍🌈
Thank you for your gracious support. If you wish to know more about #Taiwan, I invite you to visit this #IslandOfResilience, and meet the people who truly live up to democratic values.
Serving this country is the greatest honour of my life. 3 years on, we have successfully developed #Taiwan’s offshore wind farms, launched our indigenous submarine factory, & saved our pension system from bankruptcy. I’ve achieved what many said was impossible, & I won’t stop.
The inclusion of Taiwan in the #WHA is a #HumanRights issue. It’s not a bargaining chip that can be used by any country to pressure us to give up our sovereignty. The goal of #HealthForAll can only be achieved if #Taiwan is part of the @WHO. #TaiwanCanHelp.
Thank you for standing with #Taiwan. Your support strengthens our resolve to contribute to the global health network. My administration has never & will never bow to any pressure. #TaiwanCanHelp twitter.com/MOFA_Taiwan/st…
.@SecAzar is spot on. The 23 million people of #Taiwan deserve their voice just as much as anyone else does. We thank #US @HHSGov for openly supporting Taiwan at #WHA72. We’ll continue to help achieve the goals of #HealthForAll!
As #MarshallIslands Health Minister Kalani Kaneko rightfully said, we should not compromise when it comes to achieving #HealthForAll. #Taiwan serves as a transportation hub in the #IndoPacific region, our inclusion in the @WHO matters.
We truly appreciate #StVincentAndTheGrenadines Health Minister Luke Browne’s staunch support of #Taiwan. The representation of the 23 million people of Taiwan in @WHO should not be subject to a single country’s one-sided interpretations. #TaiwanCanHelp
When the @WHO turns it back on #Taiwan, we choose to persevere & continue to contribute to global health security. It’s heartening to have the support from #Palau’s Health Minister Emai Roberts. #TaiwanCanHelp
