To prepare for the challenges of the coming year, I held a national security meeting focused on economic policy & ensuring #Taiwan’s critical position in the global supply chain. Together, we will strengthen our nation’s resilience & drive greater development & prosperity.

As we get ready to celebrate the New Year, our military remains on guard, ensuring #Taiwan’s security & safeguarding our national sovereignty. Today I visited our troops to express my pride & thank them for their sacrifices.

#Taiwan will extend mandatory service to 1 year starting in 2024 as part of a realignment of our military’s force structure. Conscripts will support our main volunteer force, alongside revamped civil defence, reserve & training systems.
