If you come to the UK illegally: ➡️ You can’t claim asylum ➡️ You can’t benefit from our modern slavery protections ➡️ You can’t make spurious human rights claims ➡️ You can’t stay

Good luck to @englandcricket in the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan tomorrow. I’ll be cheering you on, along with every other cricket fan across the UK. We’re behind you all the way.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me in this campaign. I’ve said throughout that the Conservatives are one family. It’s right we now unite behind the new PM, Liz Truss, as she steers the country through difficult times.

1/ The job retention scheme will be extended, for four months, until the end of October. By that point, we will have provided eight months of support to British people and businesses. Until the end of July, there will be no changes to the scheme whatsoever.

Tomorrow will mark a year since Putin's brutal attack on Ukraine. At 11am we will pause and stand together with our Ukrainian friends, as we have done at every stage, in their continuing fight for freedom. #StandWithUkraine

There is no long-term prosperity without action on climate change. There is no energy security without investing in renewables. That is why I will attend @COP27P next week: to deliver on Glasgow's legacy of building a secure and sustainable future.

Today I will join leaders from across the world at @COP27P. For our children and grandchildren, we must deliver on the legacy of Glasgow and protect the future of the planet.

I am appalled by the execution of British-Iranian citizen Alireza Akbari in Iran. This was a callous and cowardly act, carried out by a barbaric regime with no respect for the human rights of their own people. My thoughts are with Alireza’s friends and family.

This is one of the biggest export deals to India in decades and a huge win for the UK's aerospace sector. With wings from Broughton and engines from Derby, this deal will support jobs around the country and help deliver one of our five priorities – growing the economy. twitter.com/biztradegovuk/…

Volodymyr, it was a privilege to have you here in the United Kingdom today. We know Ukraine will ultimately defeat tyranny, and the UK will continue to train and arm Ukrainian forces with the equipment they need. We will always be your staunch and unwavering friends 🇬🇧🇺🇦

We’re accelerating our support to Ukraine with the most significant UK package of combat power to date. Working intensively with our allies and partners, we will ensure Ukrainians can defend themselves, press their advantage, win this war and secure a lasting peace.

Taking care of your wife and young child is justifiable and reasonable, trying to score political points over it isn’t. twitter.com/iainjwatson/st…

This morning I set out to Cabinet the enormous task we face, and why I am confident that this government can rise to the challenge and deliver for the whole United Kingdom. Now is the time to get to work and earn the trust of the British people.

There is no greater sacrifice than that of those who lay down their lives in service of their country. So during this year’s #PoppyAppeal, please give generously to honour our veterans – past and present – and those who continue to protect us today.

To support restaurants and the people who work in them we’re saying ‘Eat Out to Help Out’. So for the month of August we will give you a 50% reduction, up to £10 per head, on sit-down meals and non-alcoholic drinks Monday-Wednesday. #PlanForJobs

Horrific news from Seoul tonight. All our thoughts are with those currently responding and all South Koreans at this very distressing time.

I’m so proud of this country and I can’t wait for 2023. Happy New Year! 🇬🇧

Growing up I never thought I would be in this job (mainly because I wanted to be a Jedi). I'm honoured that on this day last year the PM asked me to serve as Chancellor. It's been incredibly tough but thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.
