The arrest of young activists for their facilitation of an electoral observation mission is absurd. The EOM took place in November. The NSL is not supposed to be retroactive. The activists should be immediately released. twitter.com/Stand_with_HK/…

The details of Beijing's electoral reforms for Hong Kong have been announced and it is clear that this is the end of the city's democratic dream. Less than a quarter of LegCo seats will be democratically elected and every candidate will be pre-screened. theguardian.com/world/2021/mar…

Thread on @DominicRaab statement: He said @pritipatel will reveal BNO plan before summer recess, that border force will allow BNOs to enter UK in interim, and that the bespoke route will be ready by early 2021. This is welcome, but we have concerns about 6 month delay. 1/3

Hong Kong is rapidly coming under the direct control of the Chinese Communist Party, it’s surveillance state, and draconian punishments, which threaten the future for students’ freedom of intellectual inquiry and expression. The world must act in defence of Hong Kong's autonomy.

This is a new low for the Hong Kong Police, suggesting that crowds gathering to mark the anniversary of the death of student Chow Tsz-lok could be in breach of the National Security Law. The postponement of the LegCo elections is totally unnecessary and an assault on freedoms. When Singapore held their elections, their daily case number was 4 times higher than Hong Kong's is currently. The Hong Kong Government should reconsider their decision.
