Calling art “elitist” I feel stems from the misconception that art *has* to be inherently Beautiful, Marketable, and Profitable.
Art can be all those things, sure, but that’s not what it is primarily for, imo. Art is first and foremost a medium for human connection

Anyway the pressure to market your hobby otherwise it’s considered a waste of time is a capitalist notion. One can argue that art *is* a giant “waste of time.” We’re human precisely bc we recognize the value in spending time on things totally unnecessary for survival
