Gold helmet of King Meskalamdug, a Sumerian king of the First Dynasty of Ur. Date: c. 2600 BC. Discovered in the Royal Cemetery of Ur in modern-day Iraq; this helmet was anthropomorphized complete with ears, a headband/circlet and a hairstyle of ringlets with a bun in back.
