In a new interview with Famitsu, Yoshida, Director Takai, & Creative Director Maehiro mention even though there are 6 countries in the game, you don’t actually go to all of them.
The story will take you to certain destinations, but others may serve more of a symbolic purpose.

Director Takai says the decision to make FF16 an action battle system instead of turn-base style was because Square Enix isn’t known to make many action games aside from Kingdom Hearts, but due to the current market, they think more people would prefer action than turn base.

Creative Director Maehiro drops more lore about FF16 Dominants:
-When a Dominant dies, they turn to stone
-Successors could be born either immediately or take hundreds of years to show
-Some points in history exist where some dominants lay dormant
-Currently, all dominants exist

FF16 Director Takai says in an interview with Italian gaming site EveryEye that the main story for FF16 will take about 35-40 hours to complete.
If you clear all side quests and optional content, the overall playtime will be around 70+ hours or so.
