@navalny's arrest seems to me a repetition of mistakes made in the Soviet era, seen elsewhere now in the case against #Assange and the war on whistleblowers. States are developing an allergy to opposition—but systems that cannot accept dissent will not survive it. Let him go.

If Assange goes unpardoned because he didn't bribe somebody, it will say everything that needs to be said about this broken age. nytimes.com/2021/01/17/us/…

Look at how overwhelming public support is for an Assange pardon—in EVERY poll like this—and think about what it says about any President who refuses to shut down THE most dangerous legal case in the journalism because he's afraid of criticism from the worst people in government. twitter.com/ericbolling/st…

Reports that Trump has let himself be bullied out of pardoning Assange, mistakenly believing Senate Republicans won't vote to impeach him if he caves. Once he's out of power, they're going to vote to impeach him anyway. Which, well——that's one way to be remembered. #Politics

The consequences of a failure to pardon Assange mean he'll remain in prison indefinitely while the DOJ endlessly files meritless appeals out of spite. twitter.com/benlewismedia/…

My thinking on the Assange pardon is very simple: setting aside all else, Trump will either be remembered as the first President since JFK who from his first to last day in office was hated by the NSA, CIA, and FBI, or as the one who caved to pressure at the very last moment.

Oh yes, who can forget President Pat Cipollone? No, the failure to pardon Assange falls on one man, and history will remember it was not a White House lawyer. twitter.com/CassandraRules…

I am not at all disappointed to go unpardoned by a man who has never known a love he had not paid for. But what supporters of his remain must never forgive that this simpering creature failed to pardon truth-tellers in far more desperate circumstances: twitter.com/Snowden/status…

Before people accuse going unpardoned as influencing my rhetoric, here are the receipts showing me saying exactly the same thing last year on national TV: newsweek.com/edward-snowden…

Don't miss this extraordinary profile of my good friend @WolfgangKaleck's lifelong battle against impunity for official crimes. He is the reason many Bush-era officials—including Bush himself—have been afraid to travel to Europe. newrepublic.com/article/160515…

With the FBI breaking into US systems to delete malware from Microsoft exchange servers and now this, the government is engaged in a breathtaking sprint to protect the Microsoft brand.
