For folks who see 'Snowden' trending and want to know more about why people are discussing a pardon for my part in revealing the NSA's unconstitutional mass surveillance program, I took @joerogan through the whole history here: youtube.com/watch?v=efs3QR…

Censorship is on the rise, often led by companies that shape the very direction of our lives. Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) and I discussed the new contest for control of our attention as an instrument of power, which you can watch freely here: greenwald.substack.com/p/video-interv…

I have seen more calls for pardon this year than in all others combined. No other issue in our time unites left, right, and center like the struggle to end governments' abuse of mass surveillance and secrecy, and that would not be true without you -- and your advocacy. Thank you.

Twitter polls are extremely, extremely scientific. I'm pretty sure they teach that in school.

Politicians take note: smearing whistleblowers and publishers with obvious bullshit no longer gets you showered in likes, it gets you ratioed by a furious public. It is time to end the war on whistleblowers.

Big: The FBI secretly abused the same authority that caused a mass surveillance scandal under Obama in a new way to monitor connections to an unidentified US website. When Congress asked about it, the Director of National Intelligence initially lied—before being caught by DOJ. twitter.com/charlie_savage…

Mr. President, if you grant only one act of clemency during your time in office, please: free Julian Assange. You alone can save his life. @realDonaldTrump

I thought I knew how bad times had gotten, but then my wife told me they took the McChicken off the dollar menu.

Today I learned the dollar has lost 99.93% of its value since 2013 (relative to Bitcoin). twitter.com/Snowden/status…

The primary public figures still openly against ending the War on Whistleblowers are now down to John Brennan, Dick Cheney's progeny, and (literally) one tentacle-porn enthusiast. That's how far we've come.
144
Apologies to any other tentacle-porn enthusiasts I may have overlooked. I'm not here to judge.

Spotting guide for attacks on whistleblowers: 1) Extraordinary claims made without evidence (she gave information to the Chinese, he got people killed) 2) Demands for obedience to process ("proper channels!") with no consideration for the consequences 3) Personal dislike

"A US appellate court in September ruled the NSA’s mass domestic surveillance was illegal, as well as likely a violation of the Fourth Amendment. The court knew about this program only because of one of this generation’s most consequential whistleblowers..." twitter.com/ggreenwald/sta…

If you're curious about the pardon controversy but haven't followed all the arguments being made for (and against!), @ggreenwald just wrote a comprehensive summary. greenwald.substack.com/p/the-case-for…

@ryanol No, Cellebrite cannot decrypt Signal communications. What they sell is a forensic device cops connect to insecure, unlockable phones to download a bunch of popular apps' data more easily than doing it manually. They just added Signal to that app list. That's it. There's no magic.
