Once you wake up to the idea that the world has been patterned, intentionally or unintentionally, in ways you don’t agree with, you can begin to change it. edwardsnowden.substack.com/p/conspiracy-p…

🚨🚨 Apple says to "protect children," they're updating every iPhone to continuously compare your photos and cloud storage against a secret blacklist. If it finds a hit, they call the cops. iOS will also tell your parents if you view a nude in iMessage. eff.org/deeplinks/2021…

No matter how well-intentioned, @Apple is rolling out mass surveillance to the entire world with this. Make no mistake: if they can scan for kiddie porn today, they can scan for anything tomorrow. They turned a trillion dollars of devices into iNarcs—*without asking.* twitter.com/Snowden/status…

The true epiphany is that you’re the one pulling the strings: you have more agency than your push-notifications would have you believe. edwardsnowden.substack.com/p/conspiracy-p…

Unbelievable: @Apple now circulating a propaganda letter describing the internet-wide opposition to their decision to start checking the private files on every iPhone against a secret government blacklist as "the screeching voices of the minority." This has become a scandal. twitter.com/kaepora/status…

Big print on Apple billboard vs. small print on Apple license: "Apple reserves the right, at any time and from time to time, to update, revise, supplement, and otherwise modify this Agreement and to impose new or additional rules, policies, terms, or conditions on your use." twitter.com/matthew_d_gree…

The media is beginning to write with noticeably more skepticism about @Apple's plan to transform your iPhone into a spyPhone. Keep pushing! mediaite.com/news/edward-sn…

Have to say I've been pretty impressed with the follow-up reporting on the #PegasusProject by @haaretzcom. It's great to see somebody in Israel taking it seriously, even if the government isn't. The public shouldn't be locked out of an investigation that effects the whole world.

Among the “crimes” that Hale was convicted was exposing the secret watchlisting rulebook used to label people, including U.S. citizens, as “known or suspected terrorists” without evidence that they did anything wrong. theintercept.com/2021/07/30/dan…

Apple's new iPhone contraband-scanning system is now a national security issue. They just openly admitted they have no answer for what to do when China comes knocking. Hard to understate how disastrous this new system is for iPhone security. Tim Cook needs to intervene. twitter.com/josephfcox/sta…

The last time China stamped an inappropriate demand for access, @Apple sold out their users out. To quote them: “While we advocated against iCloud being subject to these laws, we were ultimately unsuccessful." The US Secretary of State really thought "Yes, this is the lecture I want to give the day before we demand Julian Assange be extradited and thrown in a dungeon for publishing evidence of our war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan." Can't wait to hear more on not jailing dissidents. twitter.com/StateDept/stat…

Papers writing on Assange should mention the core of the US's extradition case—a frail and deeply suspect "hacking" claim—collapsed in June when the US's prime witness recanted his testimony (stundin.is/grein/13627/). What remains are only "unlawful journalism" charges. twitter.com/khrafnsson/sta…
