Japan's Utana Yoshida and Shingo Nishiyama were fabulous in the free dance at Minto Summer Skate. Great choice of music and costumes (retro Natalia Mishkutenok and Artur Dmitriev 1992). They finished fourth but they will be challengers on the international stages this season.

Alexei Krasnozhon announced his retirement from skating today. He is headed to Texas Christian University and will commence courses in the fall.

The Japan Skating Federation announced that Yuzuru Hanyu will miss the GP series this season. He cited three reasons: his asthma; his coach being in Canada and him having to quarantine for 2 week if he returns; the infection risk to fans.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the ISU Council has decided to cancel the 2021 European Figure Skating Championships & World Junior Synchronized Championships. The Grand Prix Final has now been officially cancelled.
