I will never forget the beauty of #StKitts and #Nevis, & it was a pleasure to have Speaker Anthony Michael Perkins here in #Taiwan for our #NationalDay celebrations to discuss how our cooperation in infrastructure, education, & tourism can make it even more beautiful.

Throughout #Taiwan, I met people from all walks of life at local temples & often had the most inspiring conversations. That helps me be a better president. Through democratic dialogue, our country is moving forward as people come together & push for change.

It was heartwarming to see #transitionaljustice take the next step forward today, officially overturn unjust convictions, and restore the reputations of so many victims of political oppression. The road to #justice is long, but we are determined to see it through to the very end.

#China’s attempt to block #Taiwan’s int’l participation will only reinforce our determination to play an active & positive role in the world. At this testing time, it’s heartening to see former #US @DeptofDefense #SecDef Ash Carter reaffirm our shared democratic values.

As we celebrate #HumanRightsDay we remind ourselves that #Taiwan has achieved so much but we can still learn a lot from others. I’m glad to present the Asia Democracy & Human Rights Award to the Gusdurian Network Indonesia for promoting dialogue across religious & ethnic groups.

During my meeting with Vice President @HVelazquezPy, I told him that the ties between #Taiwan & #Paraguay will continue to blossom like the orchids our countries are growing together. I want to thank him for coming to take part in our 🇹🇼#NationalDay celebrations.

At Sandiao Cape, the eastern tip of #Taiwan, our coast guards & lighthouse keepers are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of ships at sea. Their efforts reflect the character of this country: resilience, diligence, & endurance.

We truly appreciate #StVincentAndTheGrenadines Health Minister Luke Browne’s staunch support of #Taiwan. The representation of the 23 million people of Taiwan in @WHO should not be subject to a single country’s one-sided interpretations.
