Minister of State Faustina Rehuher-Marugg was my guide for much of my visit to #Palau in March. I discovered that like me, she has a passion for her native land & its culture, so it's my pleasure to share the #Taiwan experience with her as we celebrate the nation’s birthday.
I will never forget the beauty of #StKitts and #Nevis, & it was a pleasure to have Speaker Anthony Michael Perkins here in #Taiwan for our #NationalDay celebrations to discuss how our cooperation in infrastructure, education, & tourism can make it even more beautiful.
Throughout #Taiwan, I met people from all walks of life at local temples & often had the most inspiring conversations. That helps me be a better president. Through democratic dialogue, our country is moving forward as people come together & push for change.
It was heartwarming to see #transitionaljustice take the next step forward today, officially overturn unjust convictions, and restore the reputations of so many victims of political oppression. The road to #justice is long, but we are determined to see it through to the very end.
#China’s attempt to block #Taiwan’s int’l participation will only reinforce our determination to play an active & positive role in the world. At this testing time, it’s heartening to see former #US @DeptofDefense #SecDef Ash Carter reaffirm our shared democratic values.
