With #Taiwan's annual Han Kuang military exercises coming up next week & Mid-Autumn Festival the week after, I visited a number of bases to thank our soldiers for all the hard work they put in for our country, every day of the year.
Today I gathered with members of the Jewish & diplomatic communities in Taiwan to remember the victims of the Holocaust. As we work to address discrimination & authoritarianism around the world, it is more important than ever that we never forget this tragedy.

As we get ready to celebrate the New Year, our military remains on guard, ensuring #Taiwan’s security & safeguarding our national sovereignty. Today I visited our troops to express my pride & thank them for their sacrifices.
This year, just like the last, is set to be filled with challenges & opportunities. It is imperative that all stakeholders in the region engage in dialogue & cooperate to address these challenges, so that we can ensure the security & prosperity of our people.
With the recent arrival of vaccines purchased from AstraZeneca & another generous donation from #Japan, #Taiwan's vaccination drive continues to move forward, with the goal of reaching a quarter of our people with at least one shot by the end of July.
These are the colleagues that sat next to me at the negotiating table more than 30 years ago & gave their all for #Taiwan on the international stage. Looking back, I’m grateful to have served as a trade negotiator, working to build a more prosperous future for our country.
