The change will have to come from within and we will fight on our own. But the int’l community has the responsibility to make sure it’s a level playing field. 👉🏽 cut financial/diplomatic ties with SAC 👉🏽 recognize @NUGMyanmar as real government 👉🏽 declare SAC a terrorist org
R2P and intervention from int’l community would be an ideal. But for that to happen, @ASEAN needs to recognize and engage @NUGMyanmar as the legitimate government of Myanmar. 👉🏽 Secret meetings are not equal to recognition. 👉🏽 Let’s put efforts into this very important step.
Public oath on a Yangon bus led by A youth protest leader Ko @NanLin96. A very courageous act. If only @ASEAN @UN and policy makers were half-brave as the people of Myanmar.
Public pledge happening across Myanmar as much as security situation allows in which people made vows to root out the fascist military. Leaders, please see the determination of Myanmar people. It’s time you take actions. @PeacePalaceKH @VivianBala @saifuddinabd @Menlu_RI
Foreign and domestic businesses must stop unlawful investment profiting the genocidal SAC military. @NUGMyanmar has warned that “failure to comply with this final warning and prohibition shall be subject to enforcement action leading to severe sanctions and penalties”.
Public Pledge to root out fascist military was held on water to avoid the disruption from SAC. As much as security situation allows, the people of Myanmar are making their voices heard. Are you listening to them, int’l community? #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
Implement or not, SAC does not see @ASEAN’s 5-point consensus more than a delaying tool. It’s to stall and pacify the international outrage as they prepare to hold on to power and kill more people. In the end, it will be same old bullshit.
Without any international support, this is how the revolution has been financed. Myanmar people are enthusiastically giving up their hard-earned money to root out the fascist military for good. Just a fraction of support given to other countries would have made a difference here.
ASEAN’s 5-point consensus is dead. The int’l community’s continued talking about it is like an insult to Myanmar people as if they were saying “We don’t really care about you. We are just saying it to make ourselves feel good.”
Japanese university students raising awareness about Myanmar in Tokyo today. Thanks a lot, friends. ありがとうございました。
Myanmar military abandoned reconciliation or peaceful dialogue since February 1, 2021. @ASEAN should recognize this fact.
Watch how People Defence Forces (PDF) are being received by the public. It’s time international community makes a decisive choice to stand with Myanmar people.
A brief review of 5-point consensus (1/5) immediate cessation of violence and utmost restraint SAC won’t follow through. They will justify their use of violence behind the bogus claims of “anti-terrorism”. Executions show they are not going to do “utmost restraint” either.
Dear @ASEAN leaders, please be serious about engaging with @NUGMyanmar. If Myanmar becomes a place for superpowers’ proxy wars, it will be really really bad for the region. @Menlu_RI @saifuddinabd @VivianBala @SecManalo @PeacePalaceKH
🇹🇼 We stand with our Taiwanese friends. Long Live Taiwanese people. 🇹🇼
Very worrying development. While @ASEAN leaders are making empty threats and promises, Russia has openly interfered in the region. Again, ASEAN should not be a place where superpowers fight their proxy wars. Time to make real actions!!!
A war criminal supporting another war criminal. Dark days indeed.
As @ASEAN meeting is happening, young people are making daring protests in Yangon, burning down 2008 constitution. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
We must be mindful that even SAC allowing @ASEAN envoy to meet Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is not ‘real progress’ unless substantive discussions could be made. Myanmar military held hostage DASSK for years and allowed visiting envoys to meet her to relieve international pressure.
ASEAN must not allow SAC to keep delay and delay with ‘fake’ dialogues meant to relieve the international pressure. Waited 18 months for 5-point consensus but still gave more time to SAC? Meanwhile, Myanmar is being burnt down to ashes.
513 days after the coup, demonstrations still happening in rural areas whenever security allows. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
Suspend SAC from ASEAN, but don’t suspend Myanmar. Engage with @NUGMyanmar. No need to isolate the already ABANDONED PEOPLE. @SecBlinken
The war between NUG/PDF and SAC is not “civil war”. SAC does not have any social support base. It’s “people’s war” against an illegitimate genocidal military.
Do not abandon the people of Myanmar. A failed state at the junction of India, China and South East Asia is in nobody’s interests.
Myanmar is already a failed state. No security, no rule of law, no economic prospect, breakdown of social services and on top of all that, a murderous regime claiming itself to state power.
