***RETWEET THIS POST*** After committing war crimes, SAC is using social media to spread fake news and their propaganda. Moreover, the posts in these groups are also inflaming communal tensions. Dear @facebook @Meta, you need to take actions. Link: facebook.com/groups/7143294…
Army-linked USDP party and their supporters celebrating on social media after Thantlang city was burnt down. USDP is also terrorist organization and must be held accountable for their actions. The party should not be allowed to exist.
The fire in Thantlang continues to burn on 30th October. Nearly 200 houses and 2 churches were destroyed. This is not “collateral damage” of a war. This is intentional destruction of civilians’ property and constitutes more war crimes being committed by SAC. Enough is enough!!!
@cvoule UN needs to do more than words. People of Sudan (as in Myanmar) need actions from international community; not empty words and statements.
SAC is burning down the whole city of Thantlang, Chin state. Without meaningful intervention from UN Security Council, this act of terror will be one of the many more to come. @UN @antonioguterres @USAmbUN
SAC is terrorist organization and should never be given any sort of recognition from international community.
Before and After the Coup, SAC is destroying not only cities but also people’s lives and their homes. For people who live in hilly regions, their houses are all they have. It took years to build up a place where your family calls ‘home’. It’s heartbreaking.
We are extending our best wishes to the people of Sudan. May democracy, peace and freedom prevail. #SolidaritywithSudan
Breaking: SAC burning down Thantlang Town, Chin State The fire was started by SAC’s shelling of rocket-propelled grenades as a retaliation towards Chinland Defense Force - Thantlang. Below are pictures taken from afar and by drones at close range. Crd: @TheChindwin
Mandalay Region NLD office bombed. It was committed during the curfew time, and only SAC soldiers are allowed to go out at that time. myanmar-now.org/en/news/mandal…
Inside the town hall that night, soldiers forced the young man to kneel on sharp rocks, shoved a gun in his mouth and rolled a baton over his shinbones. apnews.com/article/prison…
Many civil servants such as railway workers, medical doctors, teachers, and even some soldiers and police continue to defy the military junta with 'Civil Disobedience Movement'. History will record the bravery and sacrifices of our CDM heroes.
We strongly oppose any forceful takeover of civilian government. We fully support the Sudanese 🇸🇩 people in their struggle for democracy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in these trying times.
Yes, Myanmar has full right to participate in @ASEAN summit. But not an illegal illegitimate unlawful group called SAC. Pathetic.
Myanmar military is a threat to regional and global security. It’s not a domestic issue anymore. A failed state at the heart of Southeast Asia, where big powers are competing for influence will be devastating for everyone in the region.
ASEAN needs to engage directly with @NUGMyanmar . Why do we even need to state this?
If the int'l community is concerned about worsening security in Myanmar (and the wider region), they should provide all the support they could find to non-violent resistance campaigns, political leadership of @NUGMyanmar, and non-wavering Civil Disobedience Movement.
60% of protester deaths were committed by state forces in Myanmar in 2021. Let that number sinks in. Credit @ACLEDINFO
The time for maximum diplomatic pressure on SAC is right now. - Cut their weapons - Cut financial resources - Cut their international recognition
SAC does not have any legal or constitutional basis to represent Myanmar. They don’t have control over country or bureaucracy either. Thus, they also lack defacto legitimacy. There is no reason for ASEAN to invite an unlawful illegal organization claiming to represent Myanmar
ASEAN Char: 2.2.h “adherence to rule of law, good governance, principles of democracy and 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 government” SAC violated constitution by unlawfully arresting president and seizing power @ASEAN has every right to refuse an illegal unconstitutional group
SAC (and some commentators) say not inviting them to @ASEAN summit broke the rule of “non-intervention”. But in fact, inviting and giving them recognition would break the rule of “non-intervention” in member states. SAC lacks any legal basis or legitimacy to represent Myanmar.
Good job @ASEAN Keep the Criminal-in-chief out
Perhaps some academic would like to use the word “Tatmadaw” to show off their language skill without properly understanding the historical context. It’s really cringey and it needs to be stopped.
Perhaps it's time for non-Burmese speakers to stop using the word "Tatmadaw", the self-sanctified, glorified eponym the Burmese military style themselves. The word refers to the dynastic era army in which the “king” is present. The word “Myanmar/Burmese military” is enough.
