The Japanese translation of Little Mermaid makes NO sense. Like, why would they name the main character アリエル? A mermaid who talks? And sings with crabs? And fall in love with and then becomes a human? That's clearly all あり得ない.

In a few years, when Japan is wondering where the young interest and scholarship on Japan has gone, and why Japanese is not being discussed by scholars as much, all they need to do is look back on this decision.
